Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Katherine Harriett King - 1871/81 Census lookup
« on: Friday 11 December 09 12:17 GMT (UK)  »
Many thanks for your help, I have now looked it up on FindMyPast and found it - I am sure this is the right family as I have a copy of Katherine's birth certificate and that states her father, William, as being a Master Carpenter.  Thanks again for you help, I have now been able to move the family back a little further.

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Katherine Harriett King - 1871/81 Census lookup
« on: Wednesday 09 December 09 22:00 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for Katherine Harriett King but cannot find her on the 1871/81 Censuses. She was born on 29th February, 1868, in Worcester Street, Gloucester. On a later census (when she is married to Alfred Atkinson) her place of abode is given as St Mary De Lode, Glos.  Her father was William King and her mother Elizabeth.  She may possibly have had a younger brother, Frederick King.

Many thanks

Dorset Lookup Requests / William Tizard - is he from Winterbourne St Martin
« on: Friday 01 May 09 22:12 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find William Tizard and his family.  He married Elizabeth ? around 1824 probably in Dorchester/Winterbourne.  He and Elizabeth had a daughter Emilia Jane (spelt Emily on the Censues) born c. 1826, baptised 4th March, 1826 at Dorchester St Peter.  Elizabeth died in 1829 and William remarried, his second wife being Kitty Riggs.  They had children Henry, Frances Sarah, Samuel, Sarah Hannah, Richard and William.  I have found the family on the 1841 and 1851 Censuses.  Emily is with the family in 1841 but with her aunt and uncle (Edith and Samuel Tizard) in 1851.  Samuel is listed as being born in Winterbourne St Martin.  If Samuel is Emily's uncle then he has got to be William's brother.  Kitty died in 1846 and the family seems to have split up.  I have found a Samuel Tizard in Winterbourne St Martin and his parents were Richard Tizard and Sarah Travis (married 12th March, 1795, Winterbourne St Martin).  Could these possibly be William's parents.

Could anyone please help with any marriage/baptism look-ups?

Thanks
Wendy

Staffordshire / Sanders - Dudson
« on: Monday 12 January 09 22:48 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for any information e.g dates of baptism, marriage, death for Rebecca Dudson.  I have her birthplace as being Hill Ridware, Staffs, from the various censuses.  She married John Sanders (possibly from Kings Bromley area) on 1st January, 1819 in Kings Bromley, Staffs.  Does anyone know who her parents might be?  She died in 1877 in Staffordshire (Lichfield District).  I have found the family on most censuses.  Also any information on John's parentage would be much appreciated.

Thanks Mike, these Foulds are driving me to dispair - Elizabeth Smith was James Smith's sister, apparently the Foulds appear quite a bit in my family tree on the Smith side and the Goadby side.  There are also a large amount of Foulds in Leicester who have a possible connection with the ones in Newtown Linford.  I did find a marriage for a William Foulds in Leicester.  He married Ellen Bland in 1900 (again another name in my family tree - James's daughter, Sarah married John Bland after her 1st husband, William Goadby's death).

Apparently, the William Foulds that was born in 1877 was born in Thornton Lane, Newtown Linford on 19th January, 1877.

I'm still chasing James Smith and have been trying to find old photos of Newtown Linford - I would love to find one of Cork Hall if one exists.  Thanks again Mike, your help is appreciated very much.

Take care, Wendy  :)

Henry Foulds was born in Newtown Linford circa 1854 - parents being William Foulds and Elizabeth Smith.  He married Mary Ann Hill in March Quarter 1873 and they had the following children:-

Harriet born c.1873 Leicester
Arthur born c. 1875 Leicester
William born c.1877 Newtown Linford or Leicester
Harry born c.1879
Ada born c. 1882 Leicester
Clara born c.1884 Leicester
Horace born c.1888 Leicester
Maggie born c.1892 Leicester
Florrie born c.1896 Leicester

Any information on Henry's baptism or the baptisms of his children will be greatfully received.

Many thanks
Wendy

I have seen Mary Ann's and Clara's births on the Bath BMD site.   I am trying to find them to see if they do tie into my Tizard line.  The site only lists the surnames of the parents.

I haven't managed to find the two girls on earlier Censuses - but on the 1901 Census Clara Jane is married to Alfred Bolling and living in Lindfield, Sussex.  Mary Ann is a visitor.

My 2 x great grandfather was named Henry (Harry) Tizard (changes to "Tizzard" in the next generation), born in Dorchester but moved to Bath before the 1851 Census.  He married  Ann Cooper in 1861 in Widcombe - their first child?, Catherine Ann, was born in 1864 in Walcot.   I had wondered if Mary Ann and Clara Jane were Henry's daughters or not and had hoped a baptism date would reveal any information concerning this.

Henry was a batchelor (as his marriage certificates states when he and Ann married).  He was a coach builder by trade and was residing in Claverton Street, Bath, at the time of his marriage to Ann.  So perhaps Mary Ann and Clara Jane are not Henry's daughters after all, but they could be related in some other way.

Thanks
Wendy
