Hoping for a Christmas present!
I am looking for the parents and/or siblings of Donald Munro who would have been born abt 1806 according to census records. I cannot find a death cert as it looks as if he died before 1855.
He married Catherine Dingwall in 1831 in Rosskeen and their children were:-
Isabella 1832, Christina/Christian 1835, Alexander 1837, John 1839, Catherine 1837, Donald 1844 & Mary abt 1847 all born in Rosskeen.
If any of the above sounds familiar I would love to hear from you.
Have a happy Christmas,

You might find something in the Am Baile web site which has searchable newspapers.

Hi Joe,

Sorry to have taken so long to reply but I have just returned from Scotland which  included the very successful Clan Munro Gathering.

I believe I have found Catherine staying with a school friend on the census night but so far have had no success with Donald born abt 1805 & married to Catherine Dingwall.

Regards,

Don

Hi Craizi,
Try this address ADOdiscl4ado11.civsec[at]APC.ARMY.MOD.UK and give as much info as you can. It is in Glasgow.

Also I see that you have Munros in Oz. As the rep of the Clan Munro in Australia I put out a newsletter 3 times a year with a Genealogy section which is open to all Munros. So, if you have some missing Munros in the antipodes, just let me know & Iwill publish your query - next issue, April,

Regards Don

Hello again Craizi,
If you go to the Commonwealth War Graves commission site http://www.cwgc.org/ you will get the information below & the service No etc, could help when you search further.

This site might help in your search http://www.army.mod.uk/contacts/divisions/records.htm but I think that you might have to go in person to get what you want. If you cannot do that then there are researchers who specialise in Army records search.

I hope that is of some help.

Don

Hi Craizi!
I can't help you directly with your Munros but I prepare an Australian Clan Munro newsletter with a genealogy section in which I publish Munro queries.  If that might be of help to you, just let me know and I will publish it for you.

Don't know if it is of any help John, but I have a Catherine Dingwall born abt 1805 in either Rosskeen or Fodderty (census records show both). She was married to Donald Munro & her parents were Alexander Dingwall & Catherine (or possibly Isabella) McLennan - from Fodderty but that is all I know
