Well,well,well...It is sounding like we are the same family - reading your post, as I know that 11 Stafford Gardens was where Annie lived.
I would much like to see the photo you have of William and family, to see if it is the same as the one I have - the mural style backdrop? Annie (g. grandmother in hat and glasses, William in ww1 uniform). It was indeed 1915, and May on her knee, as Emily Maud died in Jan of 1914. They lived at 48 Enfield Road at that point, and photo likely to be inside that house.
I am May's grandaughter.
Please do get in touch if all of this is sounding likely to you also.

Do any of you know whether you can find out who was living at an address in 1912?
I just thought of trying to find out who was registered at the address on the marriage cert - if it is them, then that helps
and if not, then I'd make a guess of it being friend or relative. But would help either way.
I've just been trying to find out that info, but can't find anything as yet, and thought of emailing Cheshire archives again - though I don't
if they could give me that info or not - so just thought I'd see if anywhere here has any knowledge on this.
Plus I'm not sure how many times you can ask questions without being a pest.

Any info would help. Cheers!

Thank you both.

I have followed the same Annie and William - or shoe boxed these censuses. I found an Elizabeth Annie also, in the Ferry Hotel - and she was born 1875 who was a servant. If they did mix up their birth places as in it was him from Chester and her from Bhead, it would make more sense research wise.

what has helped me also is the naming of children - as usual after parents and gparents, but not always so.And as their first son was Thomas James William, I wondered if Williams father would also be Thomas James
and the second son John Henry - I have no links to a henry anywhere that I can find so far, so wonder whether that would be to do with her.

Stupid 100 year clause!!!
I shall follow your leads though to start with - as I can't do much else on them at the moment. I think Annie must have either swapped her name around or was in service or illegitimate or something - or came from a different area, though if that were the case, she could have put anywhere on the census I guess.

So cheers guys!

http://ellesmereportmethodist.org.uk/Christchurch/Plot%20Plan%20rev%205.pdf

I found this site some time ago. I'm on the South Coast - hence having to do this via internet, but my family still are near there, so I'm trying to arm myself with enough info for a trip to the records office. Just need a little more info on William and Annie really to find out more about them.
But this site was photographed, and they have a William Ledsham on a vase, from his wife and children (you can email for the photo's they took)
The vicar mentioned that no parish records were available. But, I have found burial information on familysearch.org - not fully understanding that site....but they say about microfilm that there seems to be no way to view from the UK, joined up and no imagery. Also school records, but without William & Annies correct birth, I'm having to try and follow each lead I can.

I gained a copy of what I think is their marriage certificate, but threw me a little as both their address states 7 Spital Walk, Boughton, Chester. But, if it is theirs, then they could have used that address from a friend/relative to get married in Chester - as from looking all that up, they seemed to have had to have lived in the district for one calendar month before they could marry. They could not have married in a church at any point after their first child, so I would imagine Chester register office would be the closest.
I could be very wrong about this being their marriage, but is the only Saunders and Ledsham I could find in early 1900's, and from Cheshire BMD I found their exact names, and that he was an ironworks labourer on that and the census.

Anyway...do you know at all which part would have been built on at this graveyard? I have found a few small pictures of this site, but nothing that legible.
I have been trying to search it closer on street view, but you can't get close enough - so frustrating not being near there.

Thanks...well spotted!!!
just changed.
1878/1879 are the birth dates going by their age on the 1911 census
William died in 1929 and Annie in 1937
Both buried at Christchurch Ellesmere Port, judging form my research

Researching William Ledsham & Annie Elizabeth Saunders (both born about 1878/9)
1911 Census at 10 Nelson Road Eport, 1915 at 48 Enfield Rd, Eport
6 children:
Annie Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Thomas JW, John Henry, Emily Maud, May Alexandra
i have searched census, birth/death index/burial/baptism etc - I have dates for all.
But cannot find any links to birth of William and Annie E Saunders.
He states Bhead as birthplace, she as Chester on 1911 census, but not sure if this is true.
Found only one marriage of Ledsham/Saunders in 1912, Chester - and feel this is a very good possibility
Annie E (1st daughter) married into Haddock family, and tracked them to Woolrich family still in Eport
Mary A married Maloney, Thomas was in Deva Hospital, John H died in 1933, Emily died age 1, May died 1987 (my grandmother)
Had a lot of dealings with Christ Church in Ellesmere Port, and found one vase for William Ledsham.

Hoping to gain info shortly on the Woolrich family, as tracked my mothers cousin, but just wondering if there are any relations to this family out there, or anyone knows anything, as I have hit a brick wall on William and Annie to trace further back.
If the marriage certificate of 1912 correct, then their parents are James Ledsham and John Saunders.

Noticed another Ledsham in post, but doesn't seem to be a connection.

Any info would be gratefully appreciated.
