Canada Lookup Request / Cecily M. Boler
« on: Thursday 16 October 25 12:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi Folks,
Cannot find a marriage in Ontario, Canada:-

Cecily M. Boler 1921-1997  (B & D in Canada) - Parents Walter Harold Boler 1868-1922 & Ann Coutts Boler (neč Morrison) 1883-1955)
Douglas Scott Baxter  1916-2000  (B & D in Canada)

Have all the info on her family.

Only one thing Cecily in 1926 with mother Ann Coutts Boler (Widow) went to the UK "Outgoing Canadian Passenger Lists".  Have not found a return trip, but mother Ann died in Toronto.
No marriage found in the  UK, so presuming they returned sometime to Canada and Cecily married  Douglas there.

Grateful thanks for any assistance.

Annie Boler  1892-1988  N/M.
Norah Boler  1895-1990  m.  Alexander Russell

John Frederick Boler was baptised at St. Pauls, Pendleton in 1883  (Father John Boler)

Although John Henry Boler left his wife he turned up at her funeral  in 1920 and to disappear again and never to be found. He was Merchant Seaman.

My uncle Eric Boler, the son of J.F. Boler and Emma Hamer told me the story of the Featherstone connection and presume his father must have told him at some time.
Further someone with a connection to John Henry Boler told me a similar story and that the wife of Featherstone had a fight with Mary Byrne and left her husband.   Uncle Eric said all this happened in or after 1878.

So where Samuel Boler went after that is a mystery and the 1891 could be correct or a coincidence.

Thank you  steve62

Thank you and yes it was helpful.
Found:-
BMD registered at Consulates "1849 to  12 months prior to present date ).  Therefore GRO have the details for 1979, but the year does not show on GRO death records.  Going to try FreeBMD.
Its all come about because I forgot to register my mothers' death in 2008 at the  Consulate.  BTW. its not compusory).
Just for your info purposes the Consulate here charges £150 to register and further charges if they tanslate.  I can translate and have it officially stamped here, but it still costs for their official stamp.  plus a further charge for a copy of the consulate certifcate.     Total costs in excess of £250.

Appreciate your input and thank you again

England / Registering Overseas Deaths
« on: Sunday 08 December 24 14:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Folks,
This  is for mainly reseachers in the future.
How do I register in the UK a death that occurred overseas.
My father died in 1979 in Genoa (Italy).  It was registered with the British Consul in Italy and a death certificate was produced.
The GRO records do not cover that year and am not sure if the Consul passed the info onto GRO.
Thanks for any advice - much appreciated.
