Gloucestershire / Re: Maiden Name for Katherine Gough Westerleigh

Hi.

Thanks for your response we do have both Samuels in our notes. Neither record lists an age for them-that we have found yet, we haven’t found any will for him or a marriage to a Katherine either. But he’s definitely still on our radar.

Gloucestershire / Maiden Name for Katherine Gough Westerleigh
« on: Friday 13 December 24 20:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

My cousin and I have spent years trying to track down the maiden name and thus line for our 9th great grandmother. Katherine Gough had a son Joseph Gough in Westerleigh 1693 with a Joseph Hale out of wedlock. We have the bastardy bond listing Katherine as a Widow whose residence is Westerleigh.

After years of research we have been trying to lockdown a marriage of a Katherine to a Gough in the area/general time line which is then followed by the death of Gough before 1692/3. The closest we can find is a record 30 years prior of. Richard Gough marrying a Katherine Purliwint 1660 Gloucester. Being unable to narrow down a possible feat for Richard and with it being so many years prior we’re not very confident.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to finally discover Katherine’s origins? DNA hasn’t been very helpful and any who have goughs in their tree seem to be related via Joseph. I am unsure if Katherine had children with her first husband. No wills found yet.

Thank you for your time

Wiltshire / Re: Thomas Pike/Pyke/Peck and Rebecca Lawrence? Marriage
« on: Tuesday 09 May 23 08:25 BST (UK)  »
Thank you for your response.

Yes I’ve seen William but the only actual record I can find is for a William baptized  to Thomas and JANE the 25 June 1779 in Amesbury so I have taken this to be that somebody errored on their tree and it has just been copied on repeat as can happen.

I have the england christenings record that stats Rebecca was born 18 March 1762 in BULFORD specifically to James and Elizabeth. I am currently working on a marriage for them possibly 1755 one to Elizabeth Grist in Hampshire over the hatherall one. I do have a couple who married out of area but for the most part even if young they married at home-I have a 13 year old marrying a 20 year old in their hometown at one point.

I have not been able to track down wills for either yet unfortunately.

Wiltshire / Thomas Pike/Pyke/Peck and Rebecca Lawrence? Marriage
« on: Tuesday 09 May 23 01:53 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I’ve been trying to track down a marriage for Thomas pike/Pyke/peck to a possible Rebecca Lawrence sometime around 1783 as their first son-Aaron-was born in 1784 Bulford, Wiltshire. Thomas was baptized in Milston and there is a Rebecca Lawrence baptized in Bulford. I would assume the marriage would be between the two areas.

Any help pointing in the right direction would be appreciated. I feel like I’ve exhausted the majority of online sites I can think of.

Thanks,
Nich

Thank you all. I tried a search on find my past with nothing but I will look again on ancestry.

Interestingly I have Elizabeth baptized March 1818 Shoreditch under Elizabeth Levirge daughter of John and Mary Amer. It lists her birthday as 5 July 1793.

I appreciate the help.

It won’t let me share the exact film link, but this is the link to their parish information. When I click through their film for years covering 1793 it tells me I need to be redirected to find my past. It also lists find my past as having the indexes.

London and Middlesex / St Lawrence, New Brentford Baptism Joseph LeVierge
« on: Sunday 13 March 22 12:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I have been to conclusively nail down some sort of birth record/parents for a Joseph LeVierge-signed Levirge on his 1811 Tower Hamlets marriage record to Elizabeth Amer.

Recently a number of people started added an unsourced baptism for 14 July 1793 St Lawrence, New Brentford, Middlesex, England but no one I’ve contacted can tell me the source they got it from an I can’t seem to find baptisms for 1973 New Brentford. Family search says the images are held by find my past but I can’t see them there. Free reg doesn’t pull a Joseph at all for a larger time span.

If anyone can point me the right direction to track down the image or index I can sort by hand it would be appreciated.

Thank you
Nich

Hello Julian.

Yes they were a prolific bunch. Silas was a horrible man. He’s in a number of newspaper articles as well as a book a prescription for murder.

I’ve been stuck with the line in the mid to late 1600s for years now.

Thank you vary much! I will look into the NFSH ASAP. I will have to look into another possibility for a wife for John outside Margaret as that would may Marke 1645 and John 1645 brothers. I know childeren in my line have been baptized all at once before but I haven’t seen so close together in my research before if not at the same time.

Really appreciate your help

Nich
