Hi Colin

Thanks for your reply.

Yes,however we are fairly confident, after checking the 1841 cencus, they are the same couple, just variants of the spelling of SHEPPARD.

Sue.

Hi

Thanks very much for the brilliant information.I think any details from the marriage allegations could be very useful to us.

Unfortunately as I live in Sutton,Surrey I shall have to ask if anyone will be kind enough to look up the details for me,via a lookup post!

Thanks again.Sue.

hi,

We have three marriages in Miserden by licence, two in 1767 and one in 1798.
We understand that there is something called Marriage Allegations. Can someone tell us what extra information does this give.

Thanks

Hi Pete

Not to worry,as we both know its an "occupational hazard"with family history!

It could well be a relation as I think there was a Cheltenham connection, so could turn out to be useful one way or another.
Thanks for the other info will try along that line afterwards.
Sue.

Hi Victor

Thanks very much for your reply and infomration.I shall certanily follow up your suggestion,as to date have been unable to find much info on Miserden,it only being a small village(advantage is we know all the Sheppards are ours!)

Thanks again for your reply and time.

Sue.

Hi Pete

Many thanks for you reply and information. We had not considered the death being other than London,so you have certainly given us "food for thought".I shall have to order the death certificate for more details.

So watch this space!
Thanks again and I am sorry if you have already received this reply( Im new to this site.)

Hi Victor,

Thank you for your reply, you have confirmed what we thought. That John Sheppard is ours and we think his father could  have been landlord before him. We undertand, that the village was owned by the Estate except the Church and the pub and wonder therefore,if  John Sheppard was a tenant landlord or owned the pub,as he was also a carpenter at the same premises.

Many thanks again to you and Geoff.

on the 25 dec 1865 john shepherd age 32 is listed by the side it says london and then further over it has LND abreviated for london presumably. It has no headings on the columns. John was born in miserden.  Does anyone know if that column is where they died. *COMPLETED*
