Hi All,

I've just had an e-mail from The Atherton Tablelands Cemetery Trust, and they confirmed that Alan Henry Vincent did die on the 30th May 1959, and is buried at Atherton General Cemetery, North Queensland.

Thank-you to all those members of "RootsChat" who once again, have helped in this posting.

Australia / Death of Allan Henry Vincent - North Queensland
« on: Wednesday 18 July 12 11:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,

Allan Henry Vincent,  [sometimes], A.K.A.S. Henry Allan Vincent, was born on the 4th August 1904, at Burnie in Tasmania. Son of Collin Henry Vincent, and Florence Vincent, [Not Related].

Allan relocated to North Queensland, circa 1952. Electoral Rolls has him living in Gordonvale, North Queensland in 1954, working in the Sugar Mills as a Labourer. The 1958 Electoral Roll has him living at Ravenshoe, [a town North West of Ingham].

He had a partner by the name of "Hettie", and that is all I know about her.

Allan died as a result of a car accident, on the Gillies Highway, between Ingham and Atherton. I was told by family members, [who have given me wrong information in the past], that he died on the 30th May 1959.

Is any-one able to confirm this information, and also provide information, as  to where he is buried.

I have looked in the Cairns & Regional Districts Cemeteries Registries,  to see if he is buried in any one of them, but to no avail.

Hope some-one can help,

Regards

Hi Helen-Darleen,

Noticed your interest into the Waldie family.

I do not have a Frederick Waldie in my tree, but I do have a David James Waldie. He married Lois Merle Vincent, in Tasmania.

Perhaps you could focus some of your time to the Waldie family in Tassie.

Waldie is not a common name, and you would think that perhaps some of your family, may have hopped over to Tassie.

I do not know Davids history, but I have it from an old tree, that his father was John.

There are only about 3 Waldie's in the T.A.M.I.O.T. Index listed.

John Basil Waldie

Pearl Winifred Waldie  [John's wife].

And an E.S. Waldie, buried at Wivenhoe Cemetery.

Hope the above is of some help.

Hi All,

Just a General question.

If an Australian soldier for instance, was injured in France, transported to a hospital in England, where he died as a result of his injuries, would his death be registered in England or Australia.

Hi All,

Gee this is getting to be a mess, most probably because of miss-information posted by my-self. [Not Intentionally].

I am a Vincent by birth, both my brother and I, [twins], were  adopted out in 1949, hence my interest into my birth family. [There are skeleton's in every-ones closet].

Florence Vincent, mentioned by wivenhoe, [is the mother of Phyllis Doreen Vincent], she is my Grand Aunt, or better still, a sister to my Grand-father, Arthur Royden Vincent.

One of the very first family trees I was given, did have the name "Unknown Gittens". When I asked a bit more about this person, people were very evasive, and up cropped with the name of Gittus. If this was to put me to put me off the track or change the subject, they did a very good job of it. That information was given too me by close family members of Florence Vincent].

From all accounts there was a personal family issue, with the birth of Ronald William ???, [Phyllis's son]. The pair later divorced.
I seemed to gather more information re; the name Gittus,  than what I did Gittens, so I thought the family was right , where in fact wivenhoe may have hit the right note..

Did the family try to put this adopted bloke, who possibly in their eyes, was a busy body, asking questions, and seeking answers to private family issues. [hell, I am family], In fact,t I only found out I had a half brother and sister, after 57 years, [in 2006], when I sought details on my birth mother and family..

Getting back to the query of MERLIN, stating there is still something wrong.: There most probably is ; I stated that Doreen had three husbands, on reflection, I believe the "Unknown Spouse", was in actual fact, William George Johnson, [both the same person].

Also, MERLIN metioned that there was a Phyllis Vincent, who married a Birton Claude Bramich. Her full name was Phyllis Daisy Bramich, she was the person I got mixed up with, in one of my very first posts. [That Phyllis is a sister to Florence Vincent].

All the above is of very little consequence if wivenhoe is right. I apologize immensely for the hassle and time wasting that I have caused to the good members of "RootsChat".
