(102, 102, 102)]In the early days of heraldry, there was no nuance whatsoever. What you saw is what you got. If you reduce a shield down to the size of a 2nd class stamp, that is the size it would look like at 200 yards. If it cannot easily be discerned at that small size, it would not have been used. For that reason, I do not give the story much historic credence.
If this post has got warnings all over it, will someone please bring it to the admins' attention. I have tried but the report function is not working for me. Thank you.

Regards

Chas

Hello John,
Chinese heraldic porcelain is notorious for being bad heraldry and inaccurate. One clear thing is that the coronet is that of a marquis. That narrows down the field.

This might take some time.

(102, 102, 102)]Latest update!

Windows did one of those 3 minute updates last Wednesday. Lo and Behold! - Paint is back to normal. I am still using the original MS Paint at times, because it has the original shrink/enlarge feature.

Thanks again RJ_Paton

(102, 102, 102)]I just edited the first post and removed all the brackets and codes - the final result is as you see it.

This is the only site that this happens.

There is a saying "not for love nor money" - implying that the two were opposites. Usually in relation to goods, or services. As in "A good gardener is not to be had for love nor money."

Possibly a non-conformist, or foreign marriage? A marriage not recognized by the local clergy?

  Hi Chas,
Kiltpin which family is from your Kilt?

          Cheers George
Hello George,

Sorry, I've only just seen your post. I generally wear one of two tartans.

First is Buchanan. I wear the "Buchanan Ancient Muted" as it is not as 'in your face' as the "Buchanan Modern". I am the Buchanan Society Regent for England and Wales, so am often at Clan events. I also wear trews, but only with black tie and only in England.

When not on Clan duties, I wear the official RAF tartan.

Regards

Chas
