The Lighter Side / Re: Has any one found any one famous - or infamous in your family

My 4th great uncle was Joseph Bolitho Johns aka Moondyne Joe who is known as Western Australia's most famous bush ranger.  There is quite a lot of information on Moondyne Joe.  He sounds quite a character to me, not too much of a baddy, and I'm pleased he is my 4th great uncle.

That's a good idea Dawn M.  I had tried to make a complaint when I was on the phone to them, but when I asked to be put through to a manager I got cut off.  Very frustrating.

In the last 4 weeks I have had to ring the RBDM twice.  The first time I waited for 1 hour and 41 minutes, the next time I had to wait 1 hour 46 minutes.  When I politely told the operator how long I had to wait they both said that was a normal amount of time it usually takes.  I think this is totally unacceptable, but they don't care.  I'm feeling a little better now, I just had to have a rant.

Hi Merlin

Thank you for index information.

Hi Neil

Thank you.  I don't think this is my John Tyler as he went to Tas from Norfolk Island aboard the Duchess of Richmond.

Many thanks to you both

Jen

Hi Gerry and Merlin

Can you please tell me where to find this.
I have looked up "Tasmanian Colonial Index" but I can't find anything.

Thanks

Hi Everyone

I've gone over what I have been given on here and I'm so pleased that I come to Rootschat for advise.
You people have stopped me from getting too far ahead of myself.

My computer was playing up when I was trying to look at the Sydney Griffiths link re passengers in steerage going to Port Fairy, so I now see what you mean JM.  That makes more sense as I doubt he would have been able to afford a fare to London.

Merlin reminded me about John (Taylor) Tyler being a witness to Charles Fullen Taylor (Tyler) and Eliza Baker's marriage.  (I have a copy of this cert and had forgotten all about it, I purchased it a few years ago).  So that points to JT being in Tasmania in 1859.

I am learning things all the time on here.  I love Rootschat.

Thank you to everyone.
