Monica thank you so very, very much. My family can't believe you have hit the nail on the head so quickly after all the searching we have done. We do get rather confused out here in Australia when searching overseas records.
Kind regards, David

Can anyone help with the location of Mofside? My G/G'mother's marriage certificate (Australian) shows her birthplace as Mofside, Canonbie, Scotland. I don't know if it was a farm name or town. I have visited many websites to no avail. The only lead I got was to a "Mosside" (suggested old spelling) near Stewarton which drew a blank. Her name was Ellen Wylie b. 14/3/1844

Hi. Just started to research my family tree when I came accross your message. I'm afraid I can't help with your search, but  I want to register my interest in the name Wylie. My Great grandmother was Ellen Wylie b.14/3/1844 at Mofside (could be mosside) which I believe was a farm near Stewarton. I have no details of her family or her life in Scotland. She came to Australia in the 1860's where she married in 1868. I have a full record of the family since this date but nothing before. I too would be interested in any more information on the Wylies. Regards, David
