Lanarkshire / Re: Beresfords Lanarkshire Scotland

Well I haven't made much progress on my Father's side but I really was very lucky to make contact and share information on my Grannie Beresford's side, (that's the Clarke in my dad's name David,Clarke,Beresford.).  The first of the Irish connections and we have very old pics which go back a fair bit there on her side
She was kind enough to let me have her information and I am still to work through all of the phots we have at my cousin's house in Forrestfield WA. I still find it strange that my Uncle Tom Beresford came all the way from Hillend to live out his days in Forrestfield in WA!
My mother has yet to return a form to the Army records so that I can get information on my father's war service. I have his medals but no history. My Mother hasn't been too well lately and of course like most auld Scots she has had most of the parts of the heart that can be replaced...already done!
So I don't have much to add for the moment but am happy to be educated.
Willie

My name is William (Willie) Beresford born in Collie West Australia in 1950.  My father was David Clarke Beresford who died in a road accident in 1952 and is buried in Collie WA cemetry. My grandfather William Beresford is buried there too, along with my Grandmother Jeanie Beresford. I was the young boy who returned to Scotland with my mother from Australia after the funeral and my sister Betty was born in Scotland a few months after our return. Betty emigrated to Australia and I made my way back after serving in the Royal Navy.

My wife and our 4 kids, David, Richard, James and our girl, Wallis (*), all live the dream in Oz. The family tree is being researched and I am very keen to trace the Beresford side as my dad didn't say much before passing away tragically.

I read the messages about the search and the name of my grandfather William. I was lucky enough  to have spent some of my youth in Armadale/Plains/Caldercruix area and have always been fascinated by Hillend Reservoir...funnily enough! I was also lucky enought to spend some years with my uncle Tom Beresford, before he passed away. Any help or information regarding my rellies in Scotland and Oz will be gratefully received!
