Evening all

I'm hoping that someone can help me here. I am trying to find the birth record of a Gwendoline Muriel  Stone. The details I have are as follows:

Birth - (march??) 1906
Mother - Lucy Stone (nee Manns)
Father - Walter Thomas Stone

The records that are coming through on Ancestry don't match :

Gwendolen Muriel Stone bpt 4 Mar 1906 Bemerton, Wiltshire
Parents: Walter & Julia Stone

......and I can't find the records anywhere on Wiltshire OPC.

Can anyone assist please?

Merry Christmas  ;D

Thanks Guys!! :)

I'm still wondering if they are mine........even though the father on Eliza'a marriage was listed as Henry Bown.......on the 1911 census they were living with a Henry "Hall" - could it be that the marriage of Job & Mary broke down and Mary "shacked" up with Henry???

I did find it a bit strange that Mary ended up back in Yorkshire after moving to Manchester.....

More questions!!!  ;D  and a lot more digging!!

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Look Up request - BOWN Family West Riding
« on: Monday 10 November 14 19:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All

My family are all originally from Lancashire but it appears that some moved back to West Riding.

My Great Grandmother (Mary Hardaker) was originally from Armley, Yorkshire. She married Job Wilson BOWN in 1899 in New Wortley before moving to Lancashire.

They had 3 children - Florence Ada, James & Eliza.

Florence & James were born in Manchester (Peel Green / Trafford) but Eliza was born in Morley in 1910.

On the 1911 census I have Job W BOWN living / working in Stretford but Mary and the kids were in Mortley.

This much I have already discovered ;)

I have been trying to find out what has happened to these children but there has been nothing coming up in the Lancashire records....so I changed tack and looked on Yorkshire BMD and come across 2 possible marriage records for Florence and Eliza.

Yorkshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1928
Surname   Forename(s)   Surname   Forename(s)   Church / Register Office   Registers At   Reference
BOWN   Eliza   KENWAY   Harold   St Lawrence, Pudsey   Leeds   CE133/B/467
BOWN   Florence   KELLY   Samuel   Leeds Registered Building   Leeds   RB/253/179

Would anyone be able to assist in getting more details with these records please?? I wanted to try this route first before I go and order certificates and find out they weren't the right ones.....

As always any help is very much appreciated :)

Many thanks
Nicki

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Dennis BENTLEY, Stretford - Died in accident????
« on: Sunday 06 January 13 09:45 GMT (UK)  »
The 1841 doesnt give relationships ,
go to 1851
Pool Lane
Stretford
HO107/2218
Francis Garner,36,labourer
Mary Bentley,51,laundress,unmarried
Sarah Bentley,26,daughter unmarried
Denis Bentley,6 months,son
is he named after the deceased child of Ann the sister of 1841

Yes he is - this Dennis is my g,g,g grandfather.......in future census's he was living with his grandmother (Mary) as his mother Sarah had married Noah Hodcroft.....when Dennis came to marry he took on the Hodcroft name.....

Cholera Epidemic,
needs further research and clarification

Is it possible that this affected the rest of the family too??? As in Elizabeth, Ann & John??? I've not been able to find any death records for these yet.....apart from that possible one for John....

Will have a quick look on tinternet to see if there is any further info on the epidemic.....

St Matthew Stretford
John William Bentley
burial
21st May 1844
aged 6  1/3 years
abode Stretford

I've just found this too Radcliff ...... also looking at the Baptisms John's mother was Ann....not Mary as indicated on the 1841 census....

Oh well....perhaps we shall never know....
