Thank you very much with regards Caroline - I see they missed the "s" on the end of surname just to try and confuse the issue further.  If official reports were without fails it might not be as interesting.  Thanks again.

Thank you for the Fitzaustin theory as a possiblity as would make sence with the two Williams having Fritz but these appear in the first names columns on their respective marriage certificates and on the elder William having his father listed as just Robert Austen (might be Austin) with no middle name (Fritz or otherwise).  Both previous mentioned marriage certificates had been signed (no X marks the spot) therefore I can only presume the names were entered correctly or they will have corrected them.  The name of Fritz has not appeared again in any of the known family lines after the two Williams (todate).

Appreciated is the enlightenment of George Mallars and Mary Stagg, but was there any mention of a sister for Hannah (Williams Aunt), whom would then be married to Robert and therefore mother to the eldest William.

Further with regards William -  In 1871 Census lived at 16 Regent Street South, Mile End Old Town, London, Middlesex and worked as a Railway Porter.  In 1881 Census lived at 10 Salmen Street, Mile End Old Town, London and worked as a Railway Servant Goods Dept.  In 1891 Census lived at 43 Durrington Road, Hackney, Lambeth, London and worked as a Porter.  In Oct 1894 worked as an Engineer.  (Possibly in 1901 Census lived at Sidney Road, Homerton NE, London and listed as a Pauper (Married & Retired Railway Porter) as William Austin aged 71)?

Registered as Married in Whitechapel, Middlesex District in July/Aug/Sep 1869 (Vol.1c Page 778).  He (and Sarah Jane Blake/Biggs married on 17 Aug 1869.  I have a copy of their marriage certificate with Wiliams father mentioned as Robert Austen (but could have been entered as Austin as sloppy writing) as Solicitor deceased.

Sorry, not much at all to go on.

Many thanks for looking, thinking I maybe on the wrong track with the 1841 census, sorry.
William - In Aug 1869 lived at 52 Mansell Street, Whitechapel, Middlesex and worked as a Railway Porter (when he got married).  In Nov 1869 lived at 16 Regent Street South, Mile End Old Town, London, Middlesex and worked as a Porter.  In 1871 Census lived at 16 Regent Street South, Mile End Old Town, London, Middlesex and worked as a Railway Porter.  I have nothing earlier that maybe of use or give a clue.

Trying to trace any details regarding my 3x Great Grandad/mother.  What I have gathered is Robert Austen bc 1791 and possibly died Jan/Feb/Mar 1850 St.George Hanover Square, appears in 1841 census as living in St.George the Martyr Southwark, Surrey, the maiden name of his wife (my 3xgreat granmother) was Mallars (first names unknown, their son was William Mallars Fritz Austen b.1829 in Lambeth who married 17Aug1869 Sarah Jane Biggs (maiden name of Blake) - on their wedding certificate Robert was list as a Solicitor and deceased.  I don't know if William had any brothers or sisters either.

Any information that can possibly add to any of the above would be greatly appreciated.

Mike
