Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / 1901 census help please - Cardiff
« on: Thursday 24 January 08 19:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I wonder if anyone could please let me know who was living at 48 Neville St, Cardiff in the 1901 census?

Am trying to find any family belonging to Hugh Cook who was possibly born there in 1898. They might not have the same surname. Not much to go on but if I know the names of the people there, I might be able to narrow things down a bit.

Many thanks for any help.

A quick shout of hooray!

Many thanks for that information. I was hoping it might run in the family. More to look into now.

Hello,

I would appreciate it if anyone could please help to find Frederick Jenkins in the 1841 census. He should be about 17 (born about 1824) but age might have been rounded down to 15 (i.e born about 1826 I think).

In 1851 he was living in St Pancras aged 27,  married and was a Journeyman Pianoforte maker. Place of birth looks like Southwrk Boro???

In 1861 he was living Parish St Pancras, Ward of Tottenham, Parliamentary Borough Marylebone aged 37 and was a Pianoforte (SmallWork??) maker, born Surrey NK. He had a boarder living there called Mary A Jenkins, unmarried, aged 31 and a teacher of Piano - might have been a sister or other relation?

He died before 1871.

I'm hoping that his occupation might give a clue towards finding out where he was and who he was with in 1841.

Many thanks for any help.
Regards

Gosh, that was quick!

Looks like she might have been with her grandparents. I think their name was Clarke.

Many thanks. You've been a great help.

Hello,

I would very much appreciate it if anyone could give me the details of who Elizabeth Isern/Isom was staying with in the 1841 census. She was born about 1834 and appears to be in the Civil Parish of Stoke Ferry in 1841.

Many thanks

Thank you very much Suz for the 1891 info! That address sounds familiar - will have to check some paperwork.

Thanks also for clarifying the Isern entry in 1901 - given the 1891 info, it does look like it was Henrietta's mother with them - whichever one it was, just having an Isern there at all, means it's the correct family.

You have been a great help.

Many thanks Suz. That was quick!
On the 1881 census for Henrietta it says her mother Elizabeth Isern was a widow. Is there any chance it could be her (Elizabeth) instead of her father if badly written?

Thanks once again and keeping my finger's crossed for any sighting of them in 1891.

Regards
Anne

Looking for Frederick Taylor, wife Henrietta and family in 1891 and 1901.

Frederick born about 1860, Lambeth? Newington? Lead Glazier by trade.
Henrietta born about 1861, Camberwell. (Possibly died between 1891 and 1901, not sure).
Alexander born May 1891 Poplar.
And possibly William and Alfred + more?

Should be living around the Poplar, Newington or possibly Southwark areas. Any addresses given would be a great help in working out if right family.

Think I've found Frederick & Henrietta (m.s. Isern) in 1881 - not married then and living with parents etc, both in Newington.

Many thanks for any help.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Orphans 1901 Bermondsey
« on: Tuesday 24 April 07 19:05 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone tell me where a child born in 1887 in Horsleydown (near London Bridge?? Bermondsey I think), who was orphaned by the time of the 1901 census might have been staying in 1901?

I cannot find him with any relatives so am presuming he must have been in an institution.

If he was in an institution, is it possible that his name was changed as I cannot find him under his real name or any variant of?

Many thanks for any help.
