Yes Geoff E & trish1120, that is my Thomas Bell and his family. It is his parents I would like to find.
A first marriage is a surprise, thanks Treetotal, but still no father's name.

Norris Bell ( Sargent Major ) is my link b.1840, baptised 3/1/1841 Saxilby. d. 1890 wellington NZ

Far too many Bells in Lincolnshire !!!!

Many thanks to you all,

Thank you for your help. I am more confused than ever.
I was given information that William Bell and Jane Palmer who married in Waddington had a son Thomas  born in Bracebridge 1797.and is my 2x Gt Grandfather.

However I am not sure that the above information is in fact my Bell family and was trying to test it.

I know that my Thomas Bell b.1795 married Lucy Goulding b.1805 in 1824 in Saxilby.

I have not been able to find Parish records of the birth of my Thomas Bell to verify his parents.

Hope this helps,

Levley

my thanks to everyone for your research and help.
The most likely family of Richard Mills and Ann Tagg is the same family I had found.
Having had little luck in finding more in Australia,i thought it worth trying the shipping records, in particular the documention or agent for the "Ascendant".
I will follow up on Sarah who married Joseph Fennell.

Thanking you all,

Levley

Thank you Debra,

I have a family in Shoreditch that fits perfectly, and even a birth certificate for Eliza Mills. But I do not have proof that she is my Eliza.
I found her place of birth on her daughter's birth certificate, and also the marriage date.
She was married in Adelaide in 1851. and after considerable search can't find a marriage certificate.
I have her death certificate, which says mothers maiden name unknown !!

Think I will have to let her rest in peace.

Hi JM,

Her name was Eliza Mills, it is most likely that she arrived in Adelaide on the " Ascendant "in November 1849.
Her daughters birth certificate gives her birth place as Peckhan, London.

Many thanks for your help,

Levley
