Kent Lookup Requests / Re: Ginno - Crayford, Bexley & Woolwich
« on: Sunday 08 December 19 14:57 GMT (UK)  »
Have just come across your post about the GINNO family. I think there may be a link to my partner's family which I have traced to John JINNO born about 1811 in Islington. I found a baptism for John s.o. John and Hannah but then got stuck. Recently pursuing the family from a different angle I have constructed the family tree for Thomas Frederick GINNO (born 1805) and wondered if John was his sibling. John JINNO married Susan Hill in 1832 in Stanwell.

Any light you can cast on this family would be very gratefully received.

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Thomas Ward death after 1890

Have just seen your enquiry about Thomas Ward. I have access to the parish registers for Exbourne and have Thomas's baptism on 3 September 1843 to John and Mary Anne. John's occupation is yeoman.
On the 1861 census there is a Mary Ann Ward of approx the right age living in the previously enumerated household to John, described as a lodger with John and Elizabeth Fairchild. (Elizabeth could be John and Mary Ann's daughter.)
In the 1841 census John and Maryann are living at Mill Downs which was a farm outside the village.
The 1871 census for Exbourne has a 69yr old widower John living on his own in the village - birthplace Exbourne.

I can't find a baptism for John in Exbourne between 1799 and 1810, but he did give his birthplace as Jacobstow on one of the census returns. Neither can I find a marriage between 1813 and 1837, but if Mary Ann was born in Sampford Courtney then they may have married there.

I believe Thomas born 1810 is the son of John and Elizabeth, baptised 18th June 1810. John was a carpenter and the son of Lewis Ward. From Lewis' will I know that John had a son called John who could be the father of your Thomas. I think you need to look in surrounding villages for his baptism.
Good luck.

I have just seen the messages which mention Nathaniel and Ann Stedman. I believe my 4x great grandmother Mary Steadman was a daughter of Nathaniel Stedman. She married James MULCOCK at Dauntsey, Wiltshire in 1783. A Nathaniel Stedman signed the Marriage licence bond and is described as "of Dauntsey". Is this the same Nathaniel Stedman?
I have found a Mary d.o. Nathaniel baptised in Sevenoaks, Kent in 1758 but I'm not sure if this is the right person. If it is, what was the family doing in Wiltshire.
I am also intrigued by the name of his wife - Ann Sansom - as I have an Ann Sansom marrying James MULCOCK's grandfather in Faringdon, Berkshire in 1720. Are they from the same family?
