New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Local Hutt Newspapers.

Thanks Elli,

They did indeed pull the privacy card, but said they would forward to the family my email to them, I have not had anyone reply as yet, this must be at least two weeks plus now since they said they would foreward!  Nice to have the names of close family from your paper, will try to get some addresses from this, possibly phone numbers and give them a call.  As JW's they may not wish to communicate with a non member of their faith??  Malcolm.

Thank you Spades, and Lucy2,

Devastating news, so near yet so far, I am indeed the researcher/relative from earlier Hutt/Jones thread, I always seem to get within touching distance when it is snatched away from me, however, there is a glimmer of hope as Eric's passing is so recent, close family will be very easy to locate from funeral directors it is hoped, I will go for this route first rather than the newspapers.  I was right, you guys haven't let me down, you came up trumps yet again, brilliant, keep butting in you are an invaluable aid.  Thank you!!  Malcolm.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Samuel Jones (Sunderland)

Hi Again,
I received a reply eventually from the Funeral People J Ninness, they gave me a contact name of Eric Jones, 34 Moaraki Road, Upper Hutt, tel 269 980.  Having made an Internet search for this Eric or E Jones was unable to find at that address, it is possible he has moved but is also possible he has died?  The Issue shows two males, one female ages 55, 51 and 46 respectively in 1986,making the eldest 81 and the daughter about 72 today, but unfortunately I don't have her married name.  The death notice clipping must have slipped in the scanning process so only the right half is readable, there is a Brian, olin suspect that is Colin, Susan and a Donna, but unable to know if these are children or grandchildren etc?  Any ideas where I can go from here?  Malcolm.

World War Two / Re: WW2 Flight Records.
« on: Friday 15 June 12 23:36 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Trevor, Graham,

I have searched google Bomber Crews WW2 and associated links in the past with no luck.  Unfortunately as you say you need to know the Squadron he served in, I believe my cousin Frank Dodsworth a Radio Op served in more than one squadron, I was told some time ago he flew 74 missions or there abouts, a pretty remarkable tally, was shot down 3 times, spent some time training in Canada, and ended up in Italy where he met his wife.  His pilot was a Canadian and that is about all I know.

I will save the attached site you posted Graham, I think it may come in useful in the future when I get some information gathered from various sources.  Malcolm.

World War Two / WW2 Flight Records.

Hi,

Unfortunately my cousin is now deceased and his wife is no longer mentally capable, I know his flight records are tucked away somewhere in their house but even his son can't locate them.  I was wondering if there is a site which caters for British Bomber Raid Records for WW2, if there is, do you know what it is please, or, is there a Bomber Crew list for WW2, and is it a free site?  Thanks.  Malcolm.

Fantastic KHP,

This is brilliant news, have sent email to funeral directors for Sam and Ruby with the hope they may have records of death notices or a newspaper archive that wrote them, also if applicant could be contacted and informed of my interest.  Thanks for all your hard work all of you, I can't thank you enough.  malcar.  (Malcolm)

Many thanks Janette, KHP and Lucy2,
You have all given me lots to think about.  As requested further info on Sam and Elizabeth:-
Elizabeth married a sailor Samuel Jones in 1899.  Sam sailed to NZ where he left his ship to join a company trading in the Southern hemisphere.  He wrote to Elizabeth giving her an ultimatum, join me or I stop your money, she joined him, sailing out in 1913.  Arthur Carruthers (b 1925) my cousin, visited them during WW2 when his ship visited NZ near Wellington, at a place called Lower Hutt.  Arthur says Sam was quite a character.  Nothing is known of them since.
Elizabeth and Sam Jones were both living at 49 Lawrence Street, Sunderland, at the time of their marriage, and there was a 10 year difference in their ages.  Elizabeth Carruthers b 1872 the same year her mother died, I am thinking in childbirth or soon after from complications?  Sam was born c 1862 both in Sunderland.
In the 1891 census Elizabeth is living with her brother Arthur Carruthers (my grandfather) in Wear Street and goes by the name of Elah, she was also known as Lizzie I am told.  I believe the family was broken up after the death of her mother, and am still trying to find out where Elizabeth was brought up and by whom.

Your information gives me hope of finding grandchildren who may have answers to some of my questions, and maybe even a photo.

Thanks again ALL!
