Hi Susan20.  I am just starting again with my family tree after a long break looking after grandchildren. I wondered if you could give me some information on Clara Evans and Septamus Thompson.  They were my great grandparents through Annie Francis Thompson (later Ashmore) and her daughter Ivy Ashmore (later Cartwright).  I am trying to write a short profile on each person in my family tree for my grandchildren and I would appreciate anything at all that you could tell me about them. Unfortunately my mother died in 2010 so I can no longer ask her for more information. I remember meeting your grandmother (my great grandmother) Clara Thompson and I have some photos of her.  I would love to know more about her life and also about Septamus. Anything at all would be helpful.  Thank you Anya99

Hi Susan20. Thank you for your information on the plaque.  I am really interested to find out more about my great-grandparents, Clara and Septimus Thompson. I wondered if you had any information on their lives that you could share with me.  I feel very close to their side of the family as my mother had many happy memories of them. Unfortunately she died 3 years ago and I am no longer able to ask her about them.  I would be happy to do this through the roots personal messages or private e-mail if you prefer. Thank you for your help. Anya99

Hi Susan20
Thank you for your reply.  I think My parents possibly took me to visit George when we were younger.  I also remember visiting Clara Thompson in Buxton and she taught us how to make paper flowers. I have a number of photos of her with Annie Frances and one of her with Olwen. Let me know if you would like copies.

Did your Grandmother marry Septimus Thompson. Clara Thompson (Evans) was my great-grandmother through her daughter Annie Frances.

Thank you to spider monkey and cati for replying to my message. I have only just joined the roots site and have not got the hang of the technology yet. I think there is probably a better way to reply to you individually but I hope this is ok.

I did see the report from philjo and I would love a copy of the photo he has but I have not worked out how to make contact. I will try to work it out tonight.

The text was the Samuel Hughes one.

I have 2 census reports for Edward Evans. The 1841 census gives his birthdate as 1801 and lists his children as: Edward 17, Mary 14, Ann 11, Sarah 8 and Thomas 6. The 1851 census gives his birthdate as 1801. Both have him as a baptist minister at Lordshill, Snailbeach which is a tiny area so I am sure it is the. Same man. I am a descendant through Thomas and has daughter Edith Clara (known as Clara). I have lots of photos of Clara but none of Thomas or
Edward.

Thank you for all your replies

Not sure whether you have seen this previous post about Edward Evans of Lords Hill, but there is a chance that a photo does exist http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,482736.0.html

Can anyone help me to discover more about my ancestor the Rev Edward Evans. He was born in 1799 and was a baptist minister at the Lords Hiii Chapel near Snailbeach in Shropshire.

All I know from my mother is that he was a pastor for 33 years and he is buried in the church graveyard. She also said that his son was the organist and there is a plaque on the wall inside the church for him. I have visited the church but was not able to go inside as it is no longer in use.  I have also found an old text by a Shropshire miner that refers to him.

Does anyone have any information on him or any photographs? I would be very greatful for any help you can give me.

Thank you
