Hi.

I have now confirmed the marriage details.

Many thanks to all those who replied to my original post with all the specific and additional information provided.

I now have a much clearer picture of this part of my family tree.

Regards

David

Hi Tom

I had not seen the information you have provided, so thanks very much.

Amazing how what I thought would provide a simple answer has generated so much parallel information

Many thanks once again

Regards

David

Thanks Pam

Both Randolph and Joseph were sons of Jane Vary who married Joseph Warner, and then had children with Thomas Campleman. I am unable to find a marriage record for Thomas Campleman and Jane Warner nee Vary.

This would mean that Henry Vary Warner  and Alice Maude Campleman were cousins.

Although all dates and addresses point to the 1919 marriage being between the cousins, without the fathers' names and perhaps the witnesses to the marriage can I be certain that it was the cousins who married and not some other parties.

Thanks once again

Kind regards David

In research into my family tree, I think I have found a marriage which appears to be between people from different branches of my  tree, but at the moment am unable to confirm the fact.

The marriage was in Leeds at the Methodist Church, Cardigan Lane, Burley   Leeds in 1919 between

Henry Vary Warner born abt 1894 in Leeds and
Alice Maude Campleman born abt 1892 also in Leeds

I am currently seeking additional information that would move the marriage from "possible" to "probable or better still "definite".

The information I would like is

          Brides father's name
          Bridegroom's father's name
          Names of any witnesses

If anyone could help, I would be most grateful

Kind regard

David

Thanks ThrelfallYorky for your swift response.

Alice's mother was Isabella Williams born abt 1869 in Darlington.

Jane and Thomas married in Hunslet Leeds in 1867.

I have as you suggest drawn a diagram and can link Alice and Henry together. However I am not sure whether the two I can link are the same two found in the marriage cert, without knowing the fathers' names on the marriage certificate.

What I was looking for was whether there was someone who could provide that information.

Once again many thanks.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Married cousins

Whilst researching my wife’s family tree I have come across a situation where cousins seem to have married. I know this is legal (thanks to Henry VIII) but I am not sure whether I have got crossed wires somewhere.

The facts I have are:-

Thomas Campleman b 1827 in Bridlington had a son Randolph born abt 1870 in Hunslet Leeds with his second wife Jane nee Norton formerly Warner born about 1840 in Lund

Jane already had a son Joseph Warner born abt 1863 in Lambeth from a previous marriage.

Randolph had a daughter Alice A Campleman born abt 1892 in Leeds

Joseph had a son Henry Warner born abt 1894 in Leeds

There was a marriage in Leeds in 1919 (Q2 9b 1341), between an Alice A Campleman and a Henry Warner, birth years and locations matching.

What I am trying to confirm is whether or not the Alice and Henry in this marriage were related as suggested above without applying for the marriage certificate.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi Carol

Many thanks for the information.

It gives all the information I was looking for and had been unable to find, but just as importantly confirms the links I had found to his children.

Once again many thanks

David

Hi. I am new to research.

I was looking for information on John Campleman b1796 who was harbour Master in Bridlington, in a general google search when this thread appeared.

My wife is the 3rd great-grandaughter of John Campleman.

We are trying to find any information as to whether he had any siblings and also his parents names.

Can you help?
