Thanks again dear Osprey... :-[ (hope this is how to use faces!) Am now back into and see what you mean abt Fred R supposed Vicar. His place of birth is given as Holywell 2 Feb 1855, d abt 40... praps he could have become a vicar in 10 yrs?

Also did not thank 2 others back in May for welcome. The thread needing to be repaired is John Edward's (d 1830 @ 54) unknown Hugues wife, and then his pa John (Pierce)'s (b 1746 Gwyddelwern) wife.

I am sorry rootschat.. I wasn't aware of protocol (had 3 postings... tho maybe not right sort?)  Yes got your (very anonymous) message... Robert Price Edwards my pa's pa was outstanding in NZ. Architect of some lovely civic buildings, NZ's largest brickworks... developed kiln now a showpiece... 14 kids with Ellen Tricklebank all survived tho generally "seedless raisins" as grandma put it, and dissipated the substantial wealth he made. How do we go beyond Salusbury and Elizabeth Norris of Speke, or is it Spike? And do you have contact with Thomas the chemist's folk Blodwyn and Lillian or those of  Janet P (b 25 May 1863)?

FT says "Fred R b 2 Feb 1855 at Holywell d aged about 40 [and beneath] Smallwood Vicar of Holywell" . Says "John b 9 April 1848 builder; Thomas b 22 Sept 1849 chemist 2 daughters Blodwyn and Lillian. William (Peter) b 20 July 1852 d Wellington 1902." Would like to know more too of Jane P (1863) and Sarah b 21 June (1865).  Thanks again... have looked but not found and also not had time lately...

Dear osprey... thank you very much indeed...after my fruitless travails, with one stroke you have our Edwards! So will accurate, around this pt anyway. After Robert (Price), William (Peter) d Wellington!, Fred R, Jane F b 25 Aug 1863, Sarah, Peter (d infant) Susanah (b 1857, d 20 Dec 1882), and last Jane (b 1860 d infant). Thomas had 2 dau; Jane P or F? 2 child. As well offspring, would like to know of Fred R. b 2 Feb 1855 Smallwood, Vicar of Holywell as failed to find.

Am slow getting this! Saw ttrevor asked what I needed, specifically, to know, wanted to reply but unable to work out how... came here; found much information (thank you osprey) am yet to read. Last night rang father (b 1923, RG (Dick) Scott) to question validity of this handwritten will addressed to his aunt Hilda. He's blank though he visited family places in NWales. Then by entering 'Judith Bowes m John Salusbury', found its likely source in Burkes Peerage... am about to delve into it. My father an only child... most of Robert Price Edward's 14 children were without issue. Know nothing about any distant relatives, or the origins of this wealthy NWales family. Am curious too about possible Jewish blood...

Am not getting far with an early 20th century handwritten Tree relating to grtgrandfather who came to NZ 1874 Robert Price Edwards (b 17 Nov 1850). Salusbury/Whitchcote/Bowes/Judith Fowke/Thomas Jones (d 6 Nov 1779)/Edward Pierce/ (Pierce) Edwards/Hughes/Mary Roberts and places Denbigh/Pont y Glo farm/Gwyddelwern/Rhuddlan/Rhyl are in the picture but I can't shed real light on this paternal line.
