Still trying to prove marriage of John Ashby 1570 - 1648, to Marianna Poyntz 1570 - 1650. Married in St. Denys Church, Rotherfield in 1591. John was a local, but I believe Marianna was born in Iron Acton, although I cannot find any record for her there, or in any Poyntz family trees. Thanks in advance. Alan.

Leicestershire / Re: Ashbys in Leicester & Kent

Hello all,  Thankyou to rosie & pauline for your quick replies, I know I made a very generalised plea but I guess the info I'm looking for is much earlier than census material. I have records (Sussex Weald Gen.) back to John Ashby b.11 Nov. 1592. in Rotherfield, m. Jone Hilder. Then through A***y I have unproven lineage back to John de Ashby b.1341 in Ashby Magma, Leicestershire.(m. Alice de Albiny) This data then leads back to Phillip de Sassfrid Ashby. etc. Is there any truth to this direct line, and how do I prove it? I have tried different sources, official family trees, open web searches many of which seem to go right down to the very generation I need then stop, making me rather suspicious of the veracity of the other peoples trees. ie I ca'nt find any evidence to support them; and where did they get the original idea from, or are we all copying the same misinformation perpetrated by some genealogy fiend ? HELP Please.   Regards Alan

Hello all, I am a newbie to RC, but finding great info. Thanks. My link to Mary is through my wifes family. Mary is her 10th.GGM coming down through the Bloomfields, to Barkers,Sheppards,Buckley. This is the furthest back I have been able to go on her tree, so the data from you guys is fantastic. We also are based in the Antipodes, (Victoria Aust.)so would love to catch up with any "locals". I know this is an older thread, but hopefully someone will catch this new post.
Regards Alan.
