Many thanks Terri,

I may need the extra info if possible.
I am currently active on another line in this family but will come back to you shortly, if that is OK.

Regards, Bruce

Hi Terri,

Many thanks for your comments.

I have nothing further on George Ernest other that he may have married a lady called CLAYTON. Any help you can give on his marriage and descendants would be appreciated.

George would be a very distant cousin of mine but I do have an ancestry line back to his family departure form the UK.

Regards, Bruce

Many thanks Tati,

I thought Aufholz might be the correct family but was not sure. Have done some more looking and it would seem that Leopold Aufholz b 1875 is the correct one. Have found him in 1891(as you say) and 1901 & 1911 married with children. His 1st wife dies in 1913 which would tie up with his marriage into my wife's family in 1917.

Need to do more nut this looks like the right track.

I will check out the Ancestry Family trees.

Regards, Bruce

Not sure if this is the correct place but...........

During the research of my wife's family tree we have come across the surname ONWOOD.

This name does not appear in the BDMs until 1917. First marriage is for a Leopold A. ONWOOD.which is the one I am looking at.
Prior to 1917 there is not mention of the ONWOOD name in any census records for the UK.

[NOTE: Some do appear in the 1891 and 1911 census but these are transcription errors for the name Ormerod]

Apart from Leopold (b. about 1874 - this from his death record) there are references in the Marriage index around the end od WW1 of three more ONWOODs.

My suspicion is that this family came to the UK before or during WW1 and changed their name to Anglisise it.

Does any one know if there are any research resources that can help to find if this is true ?

Many thanks Debbie.

With regard to the children I believe Muriel was the daughter of Morgan & Mabel but Thelma & George Ernest were from George Garbutt & Mabel.

If only I could find the dates to confirm.

Can anyone advise where I might find information relating to a death and. I think marriage around 1925 in York County, Ontario

From an Rootsweb family tree I have found a relative alleged married to a woman whose was married earlier but I can find no trace of her first husband having died.

I have George Henry GARBUTT b 1894 in Toronto. He died on 30/12/1929 and his death record shows he is married at that time.

Unsupported entries on Family Search and the Rootsweb family tree state that George Henry married Mabel Alice THORNHILL before 1926 and they had two children. They also say there was another child, Muriel,  born around 1918.

I have found a marriage record for the same Mabel Alice THORNILL in 1918 but to a  Morgan HART.

I am now slightly confused. Did George Henry marry Mabel Alice ? If so her first husband must have died or they divorced.
Also, if correct, was Muriel the child of Mabel Alice and Morgan HART.

I would greatly appreciate any help in someone pointing me in the right direction to try to solve this mystery.
I have tried contacting the person with the tree on Rootsweb but to no avail.

Many thanks in anticipation
