Thanks Weste,

If I can establish one baptism (for JB) this would at least indicate that the others were also baptised. If you find anything, the residential address on the record would also be appreciated.

Looks like they moved to Tipton as CH was registered there in 1850.

Regards.

Dave.

Thanks for your input folks, I have tried bmsgh and family search to no avail.

The information about where these records are is of great help, when I can get to the area and do a manual search (in the absence it seems of anything being on line or on disc).

Jackie - I already actually know of three sons for Reuben and Catherine (Oliver 1843 - Banbury before they came to the black country, John Benjamin 1847 West Bromwich and Charles Henry 1850 Tipton). My reason for looking for baptism records for ANY children is to establish if Reuben and Catherine did (hopefully) baptise their family. I am actually looking for a fourth child (who had died by 1901 - USA census (birth and death between UK censuses). By 1851 they were in Birmingham (three sons on the census, ditto 1861, before they emigrated to Utah in 1862. I have checked Birmingham baptisms (which are now coming online) for the latter period without success so the missing child is most probably in the black country area/period. Relying only on registrations produces several hundred possibilities during the period/areas involved). I figure that Baptism records showing the parentage will locate the missing one, if JB and CH were baptised, logically the missing one also.

Many thanks.

Dave.

Hi,

Does anyone have access, (or can tell me if they are on line) relating to Stourbridge death (burial)
entries for 1st Quarters 1843 & 1846. I am looking for any info (particularly the age) of Benjamin Roberts entries for these two dates.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation.

Good Day,

Does anyone have access to the above Parish Records ?

I am trying to establish the age (and any other info that might be shown) for a Benjamin Roberts burial record 3rd Quarter 1846.

Alternatively, does anyone know if these records are available on line.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Edith May.

I've had a reply from Glos Archives but sadly not of much use.

They only seem to have records relating to the conversion of the buildings
(from 1938) ie. details of the building contract awarded - nothing on
the history of the premises as a college.

They say that in 1938 they as such didn't actually exist so, would not have been the
recipient of any donated documentation of the institution at that time.

I've tried looking "locally" at the Cheltenham Family History site but can't see any
evidence there either, of the type of paperwork we are looking for.

On the 1911 census, Mary Pearson aged 46 and husband Reginald aged 39
are shown as married 11 years with no children so, the absence of any family
of their own would explain why the business wasn't "handed down" - but
ceased (circa 1938). Consequently therefore, there may not have been anyone
to even "accidentally keep" the books, let alone appreciate them.

Sadly back then, there was little tendency to value this type of documention -
within my own family, similar records in respect of a closed business have not
survived - not thought of as worth keeping and most likely incinerated !!

Can't think of any other avenues to follow but, I'll keep this post open in
case anyone out there can enlarge further.

Regards

David
