Ah yes, that makes a lot more sense! Thank you! So odd how they switched between Phthisis and Tuberculosis in the same sheet, but I imagine there's some slight medical difference behind the two. Seems the family curse struck again.

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me decipher the cause of death for Thomas J Alexander on this record, the first entry on the full image (included in next message). I've included a close-up of that section as well. The majority of his family died from TB so I was assuming it would be that, but obviously it's something different. The only thing I can find that's vaguely close is Orchitis, and maybe they just mispelled it or it looks mispelled due to their handwriting, but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas.

I've found John Morgan (mother's maiden name Nettle) with his parents in 1939, but unfortunately his entry is still redacted as he was born less than 100 years ago, and without a death certificate I can't have it opened.

As for this Jack Morgan, one or two came up but I can't prove either way if these are correct, but again it could be due to his DOB being less than 100 years ago. I have found a Jack Morgan (mother's maiden name Cole) born in Apr-Jun quarter 1924 in Glamorgan, so it's possible this death certificate in Swansea is him, but I'm hoping to prove that one way or another before I buy the certificate.

I'm hoping someone might be able to help root out some info for me on the above, Jack Morgan who died, according freebmd, in Jul-Sep quarter 1981 in Swansea. His birth date is listed as 22JE1924. I'm trying to find an obituary or newspaper reference to him (or some other information about him) to see if he's linked to a John Morgan (born 1924) that I'm attempting to trace for a friend. I've ordered a birth certificate for my John so I can get a more accurate DOB, but I was hoping to find some extra details on this Jack before I take the plunge and just order his death certificate.

I've never been all that great at looking through newspaper archives, so if anyone could help or offer some pointers, I'd be very grateful!

How...peculiar! I've nothing like it in my tree, which is why I was so confused when I came across this lot ;D

Sarah Prince died sept qtr 1865 aged 25 and Emmanuel remarried to Harriet Jenkins dec qtr 1868

I'd wondered if there was some split from his father but there's a death registered Cardiff for Emanuel Prince aged 60 in march qtr 1901 and he's living in Penarth on the 1891 census with Harriet and children.

I have a relative using his stepfather's name on one census although children's births are registered with their real surname. No idea why!

Yeah I just discovered Emmanuel's second marriage. They're living together in 1871 at least, after Sarah died. I've had ancestors turfed out at young ages after their parent remarried.

I need to stop digging now because I told them I'd write up a little summary for tomorrow, but I'm only on one branch so far. It's quite refreshing having an entire new tree to build!

The more I poke at this family, the more that comes out. It's probably a good thing they're not my lot or I'd be spending a small fortune in certificates. As it is, I'll write it up for my co-workers and hope that's good enough for them. I'm following the trail of Emmanuel Prince at the moment and I'm at risk of falling down a very deep rabbit hole.
