Oh thanks so much, I would love to share info. Was Arabella maybe his first wife or William born 1821’s mother?  Is there a way of private messaging on here so that we can share privately?  I’ve been on this trail for years but new to this group?  Thanks, Linley in Perth, W Australia

From reading the other thread I now know that he was born in Ireland in 1821!  He married Ann sometime after 1841 (as she is not with him in the 1841 census) and they had four children.  Mary Ann born 1849 in Dublin, Emily born 1851 in Canterbury, William born 1853 in Hounslow and Ellen born in 1856.  William died in 1860 in India.  Ann and the children arrived in India shortly after he died.  She returned to, probably Ireland, with Mary Ann and left the three younger children in a military orphanage school. I am descended from son William born 1853...

Hi all, commented on another similar thread as well tonight... William Carroll 586 is my GGG grandfather.  Might be worth mentioning though that I came across another WC in the same regiment when I was searching through the muster rolls at Kew a few years back.  Their serviced seemed to overlap and I wondered if it was father and son... Sadly I lost the photos I took of the rolls when I accidentally machine washed my phone before downloading them...

Oh wow!  I’m claiming William Carroll 586.  He was my GGG grandfather who married Ann and had four children, three of them remaining in India including my GG grandfather (also William) after they were orphaned...  I was talking about him today with a friend and how he’s still a bit of a mystery and decided to have a bit of a google and this message popped up so now I know a rough year of birth and confirmation that he was from Ireland!  Cheers for that!

Hi, just came across this thread.  I am looking at my husband's family tree.  He is the ggg grandson of Milburn Mann (Taree, Australia).

Still trying to make sense of it all but thought I would say 'hello' and register my interest.

Cheers,

Hi John, I am but could not find you... I should be fairly easy to find on there though (/linley)

My husband's great grandmother was Agnes McBride, daughter of Thomas Lorma (Lorimer) McBride.  I have just started looked into this family for my mum-in-law.

Hope to hear from you. :)
