I don't know if this will help you but I've been researching my son-in-laws family tree. John Haigh Greenwood was his great great grandfather, he was a commercial photographer. John Haigh Greenwood is listed on the census of 1891 as living and working in Brighouse as a photographer with his wife Kate. However by the census of 1911 he was living with one child in London, although still working as a photographer. I'm not sure if this helps you date the photograph as of course it's possible his wife was still involved with the business and possibly produced the picture.

I say this because although he is not living with her in London he notes that they are still married so perhaps she ran the studio there.

Cumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Campbell Whitehaven? Death 1861 - 1871

Hi Dee,

Having looked at your Thomas Campbell, I'm sure he's the same person, there is a long story as to why he changed his name involving inheritance and the fact that his mother was from a working class family. I've emailed more information to you. He reverted to his mothers name in the 1871 census having lost a court case to prove his paternity.

Hi Dee,

I think I can help you with Thomas. In my family tree my great great grandfather was Hartley Heyworth (Howorth), a watchmaker who was the child of a soldier named Campbell. I have been searching for a long time to find where he disappeared to on the census's of 1851 and 1861. I believe he changed his name to his fathers name. He married Isabella Bailey in 1845 in Holy Trinity Habergham Eves, Lancs.

My great great grandmother was Jane Heyworth (Campbell?).there is a long story to the change of name which perhaps you know involving an inheritance. Hartley died in December 1985 in Bacup in Lancashire. Do let me know if you think we have the same person.

Kate
