Just wanted to update this for anyone researching these names in future.

So this is a bit of a tease. My great granduncle Thomas Lyons, living in Harrogate in a 1937, is mentioned (in a newspaper article) as follows "Lyons declared that he was writing his life story for a newspaper and would receive £100 for it."

It could be a crock of a story (he was on his way to jail for not paying maintenance to his wife) but I have to at least give it a chance. He was born in Ireland, and served in both world wars.

Would a local newspaper pay that kind of money back in 1937 or would it more likely be a regional or national paper? Also I'm not sure what papers were in existence back then, so don't know where to start to look for this potential "life story."

Any advice or thoughts are welcome.

Alexander Nethercott (contract ticket number 887) is found in England embarking on the S.S. Borda, 1st June 1922. He was contracted to land at the port of Fremantle in Western Australia.

He was born on 16th June 1898 in County Fermanagh in what is now Northern Ireland.

We have no photos of Alexander so I am hoping that one exists in a passport that exists somewhere, or perhaps in some paperwork for him in Australia. He was contracted to land at the port of Fremantle in Western Australia. He was burned to death in a fire in 1936 aged 38.

Unfortunately, Death Certificates in England & Wales don't contain a lot of information?!
The only "confirmation" you are likely to get is the informant - and that could be anybody.

Marriage
I am struggling to find a marriage anywhere, I've looked in England, Scotland and Ireland and nothing really looks like a real possibility. A general question, let's say for arguments sake that her marriage to Mr. Aldrich was her 2nd marriage, would she then be recorded on freebmd with her first married name or her made name of Lyons?
