Hi Peter.
I realise this is an old thread now. But as your ancestor is a relative of mine also I thought Id chip in.
My ancestors also came from Dogland's Farm. Then later Dog croft farm?
My line from James & Elizabeth....
They had a son also called Thomas c1811. (Brother of Mirose)
Who had a son called James Yates Capewell c1837
Who had a son called Thomas c1870
Who had a daughter called Nellie c1903 (my grandmother)
Which I think makes you my cousin (3r)?? lol
I find theres a few unusual names in the Capewell family. Nellie had a brother called Carlos which I always thought was quite unusual. Theres a few very mediteranean sounding names dotted about the capewells in the 19th century. I wondered if it was due to the travelling back and forth to America to see relatives and the friends they must have encountered on the way.
Some of the Capewells did return back from the USA, such as my GG Gramps James Yates Capewell for instance. In fact he is listed in "The First Annual Genealogical and Heraldic Report on The Capewell Family", by Clarence L. Capewell, issued July 21, 1906" on page 46 as MISSING - John Yates Capewell It states he emigrated to America in 1856 with an uncle who was names Yates. Which explains his middle name, and his missing status on the 1861 census! But he returns to marry in 1867. He ended up in Cookshill, Caverswall (Staffs) which is the village I live in.
Due to an unfortunate accident I have no pictures of any of my ancestors. So I wondered if you had any pictures of your grandmother (my 3X great Aunt Mirose) Or any other Fradswell Capewells I could do a scan of?
Id be very greatful.
Kind regards.
Mike
