Hi Carol, that was very kind of you. She looks a lot better! Thanks.

Thank you very much for your replies. I suspect, but can't prove, that it's a photo of a girl born in 1862 so a date of the late 1870s/early 1880s works with her being older than I thought.

Thanks again.

This unidentified girl is from a Sydney, NSW album. Other photos in the album are, I believe, dated to around the 1870s. I have searched Google images for a dress with a collar like hers but have been unsuccessful. Might anyone have an idea of an approximate date please? Also, would people agree with her age at around 12 years, give or take a year? Thanks.

Unfortunately, I only have a scan of the front of the photo and cannot access the original album.

A search of women's fashion to match the hair and necktie found this website <http://www.photodetective.co.uk/Swirl-A.html> which has a photo dated Xmas 1912. It's not a bad match to your photo.

Ages of children: I would guess the baby around 9 months and the little girl at least 3 years.

I hope this helps.

Thank you - all help received has been gratefully received.

Thanks very much for your opinions. I know who the lady is but have no proof for the girls. Of course, with the clothing so similar, I suspect they are her daughters and Jim's opinion of early - mid 1870s would be spot on.

Thanks very much vv. I really think you are correct about the word "policy" which makes sense in the sentence. Much appreciated as I have had this Will for many years without being able to decipher this very small section. Now I just have to work on that last bit!

Thanks for your suggestions.

Jane's surname is definitely Wing. I've attached another image which has the word "which" from another section of the Will as a comparison. I'm afraid I couldn't make them the same size.

I think the author of this Will then made a small mistake and crossed out a few letters and it's the next word or perhaps even two words that I can't make out.

I would appreciate any opinions on the date of the attached 19th century photo.

With thanks
