Lancashire / Marriage in Bolton area bt. 1800
« on: Friday 23 August 19 09:51 BST (UK)  »
John Eckersley was baptised 17 Apr. 1808 at St. Peter's Church, Bolton. His parents are given as John and Mary Eckersley. I would dearly like to find out about the parents. Could they really be the couple who married in Deane in 1796? Can anybody find another possible marriage?? Thank you

Well, I tried what you said, but sadly Eliza did not 'just pop up' for me! What site were you on please? Matahui

Can anybody help me to find the birth of Eliza Frampton who was born in 1813 or 1814? She was most likely christened at Arreton or Newchurch on the Isle of Wight. I should be very interested in her parents, so that perhaps I can get back another generation! Many thanks, Matahui

US Completed Requests / Ernest Cooper b. 17 July 1880

My great uncle, Ernest Cooper, was born in Lancashire, England on 17 July 1880. He lived north of Liverpool until he emigrated to America some time between 1901 and 1911. On 1901 English census he was a 20 year old bricklayer living with his parents.
I cannot find his passage out, but the family are definite that he went there and settled.
On Ancestry I found an Ernest Cooper living at 266 West End Ave, NYS. Petition no 151297 or 151299 to become naturalised. It is dated Jan.20 1930. I suppose it's far too simple for this to be him, but I don't know how to check! Can anybody help me please?
Many thanks, Matahui.

Thank you gortonboy. I've now got the details of Frederick's 1901 army stint, also Alice's first  marriage to Richard Henry Mawson in 1909, his death and Alice's subsequent marriage to Albert Lewis in 1910. I found Alice and Albert on 1911 census; with them was Elizabeth Mawson aged 5! If she was Alice's daughter she was born a few years before Richard and Alice married. I cannot find a former marriage for Richard Henry.

Thank you very much. I did know about Frederick's army career. I got a load of info' from Ancestry, and my father remembers him coming to visit in army uniform.
I had not realised that Alice had been married 3 times though....thanks!
Cheers, Matahui
