Hi, wonder if someone could help me,I've a two page document belonging to my great great grandmother dated 12th January 1864 in front of two commissioners for the count of Durham, she is Ann the wife of John Brough Ayre of Durham saying she intended to pass her estate in the premises respecting which acknowledgement was made,, it's something to do with deeds and has affidavit and other terms on it,truly fascinating I've looked up it on the internet and think it's to do with sale of her property but I might be wrong, please help x x Jo

Thanks everyone, yes they did marry in monkwearmouth a J Brough was a witness, the census vary on Seaham, Sharpley hall and Sunderland for births, both born around 1786, one birth given as 1795 for Andrew at Bishopswearmouth, I haven't a clue if any have siblings which is what is driving me  scatty, I've put down all the family names and would say James,Andrew and Margaret on the Ayre side and John and Hannah on the Brough, this is pure conjecture on my part, but I know there were habits of naming children in a certain order after relatives, sorry to be vague, my family all originate from Durham s nd Northumberland, got credits for Durham online but getting nowhere with it, got these pair on the census and there's an Andrew Ayre who went bankrupt along with a John Brough in Seaham, sure they tie . In and Andrew Smith Ayre is definitely e my Pairs grandson, we believe he settled in America, Illinois I believe, he came back sometime towards end of 1800s, we then had a Fanny Webb Ayre and Hannah brough Ayre , Hannah has her birth as being in Australia in mid 1800s, I have so much information but need the ties that bind, no idea who is the anchor is, I've done a tree but really need to get my Andrew and Hannah sorted, as these random ones I've found do sound like they must be related , thanks for the input, sorry I'm vague, I've just been chasing my tails thanks everyone look forward to he a ring from you Jox

HI just stumbled on this thread I'm the direct descendant of Richard and Martin Pringle of Holy Island, then Alnwick, Northumberland, just gathering bits as I go,all the family seems to be from Nortumberland, Durham, and further back Keith Banffshire,Scotland, anyone can fill.me in on the missing pieces I would love to hear from you,I was actually born in London, the older generation of my family came down from Durham in 1926, to Derbyshire,so wish I'd asked more questions, hope to hear from you Jo x
