Hello Carl

My name is Brenda Conlon. Thomas Frederick Morley was my great great grandfather. My sister and I have done extensive research over many years and have all info you could possibly want, warts and all!! I see on the family tree that you are born 1985? If that's you, you are the great great grandson of T F Morley, so we are 3rd cousins!! We descend from Thomas Frederick Morley (Fred) son of T F Morley above; things get interesting when more than one family member has exactly the same name!! Thomas Frederick Morley was known as Gatty, so we refer to him as Gatty and his son as Fred, so we know which one we're talking about!!
Send me your address and I'll send photo copies of the main family tree and the tree starting with Gordon Harrison Morley b. 17/8/1883. The trees were given to us by the late Reginald James Morley (Reg) who was the 3rd child of Gordon's first marriage; Reg died June 6 2008. Here is a brief outline for now until I send the trees:

George Morley b. 3 Dec 1820, Westbourne, Sussex, England.
George Morley to Nelson, NZ on "Sir Charles Forbes" 1842.
Married Margaret Cornelia Susanna Freeman-she came to Nelson, NZ on "London" March 1842. Married on 11 Feb 1845.

Thomas Frederick Morley born 8 December 1853.
He married Rhoda Harrison.
Gordon Harrison Morley born 17 August 1883.
He married Amelia Tobin b.1885-d.1911.
Douglas Leonard Morley born 22.1.1909 who of course is your grandfather.

Cheers

Brenda

That is interesting information Fife. To answer your question re. John Cuthbert: He was in St Andrews at Shorebridge. He was still married to Betsy (Elisabeth) (nee Motion) and they had two children: Alexander aged 3 and Margaret aged 1. His occupation is joiner. So he must have recovered enough from the serious injuries inflicted by the coward David Buddo who shot him in the back when he turned to leave.

In the 1871 Census David Buddo jnr is a lodger at 3 Flesh Vennel Middle Church Perth, Perthshire. Aged 18, his occupation is engine cleaner at the Caledonian Railway Sheds.

Below are census records for 1871. As you will see, Euphemia uses Robert's surname but there is no record of a marriage that I can find. Her name is Dorward when she is buried, so it looks as though she didn't care about not being married.
