Perhaps it was Crossley Maternity Hospital, Mirfield?
About 5 miles from Cleckheaton.

Ahhhhh!  A light turns on!  Thank You.  I was once told I was born in Mirfield but I don't know who told me.  My birth certificate just says "Crossley hospital", not where, I had no idea there were two of them!  This makes a lot more sense than Manchester.

Hi Ian

Were your family connected to the Salvation Army in any way?

Hi Royd, thanks for your reply.  I've never heard of such a connection.  My mother died when I was 7 and my father 10 years later.  I think I would have seen something in those years.  Both sets of grandparents were around for many years and I never saw anything there either.

Hi, I'm puzzled!  According to my birth certificate I was born in 1951 at "Crossley Hospital" (there is no mention of Ancoats or any other unit) but I cannot think why.  My parents had been married 2-years at that time, there's no question of 'mother and child' or any other social issue.  They were living in my father's birth town in Cleckheaton which is near Bradford.  This seems a long way to travel when there were hospitals available in both Bradford and Leeds much closer.  Why would they travel all that way?  Are there records available that might contain some help?

I recently posted a question on the Lookups forum as I was unable to find a family on the 1901 census although I could on the 1911.  I got a great reply from Kay showing this info:
Quote
1901 - 59, Lobley Street, Heckmondwike, Dewsbury

Herbert   Walker   28   Manufacturers Clerk   Liversedge, Yorkshire
Marn Ann   Walker   28 Bradford, Yorkshire
Hilda M   Walker 6   Liversedge, Yorkshire
Percy   Walker 4   Liversedge, Yorkshire
Edna   Walker   1   Liversedge, Yorkshire
Frank   Rhodes   Brother-In-Law   27   Hairdresser   Gomersal, Yorkshire,
Emma   Rhodes   Sister-In-Law   27   Bradford, Yorkshire

The image looks like Hubert Walker

Kay
I am certain that is the missing entry, the names are correct as are places and years of birth (even though the name says Herbert when it should be Hubert).
HOWEVER, I have the marriage certificate for Hubert and Mary Ann (on Dec 10 1892) and it very clearly shows her maiden name as McDonald.  Again I am certain the marriage is the correct one.
That being the case, who are Frank&Emma Rhodes?  Who's Brother/Sister-in-law can they be?
Baffled    :o

Thank you Kay, that sure does look like them.
Can you tell where you looked it up?  I've been searching Ancestry but nothing was coming up.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / 1901 Census Help
« on: Sunday 31 May 20 03:45 BST (UK)  »
I need some help finding a family in the 1901 census.  I can find them in the 1911 but not in the 1901.

Head of household is Hubert Walker, born about 1873 in Liversedge, in 1911 they were in Wormald St, Heckmondwike, spouse Mary Ann, kids Hilda May: Perry: Edna: James and Winifred.

In 1891 Hubert was unmarried and still with parents Uriah (but mis-spelled as Wriah) and Elizabeth in High Town, Liversedge.

All help very much appreciated.

Thanks

Ian
