The castle is indeed a ruin and being worked on at various times  by archeologists.  There is a small museum of sorts where there is most definately information about the Sinclair/Templar connection this is not at the castle but in the private quarters up the hill from the castle (sorry about the vague directions).  Contact Malcolm Caithness he is the one with the knowledge of this.

Sinclair Girnigoe castle.  It is really about the Templars but I am sure there is other stuff there as well.  Get in touch with Malcolm Caithness as I don't think it is open to the public.
Hope this helps

I am so stupid, I could force (not) myself to go to the Earl of Caithness's museum and have a look to see what I can find out.   I will speak to him on Saturday and find out when it is open if it is of use that is

World War Two / a WW2 grave
« on: Wednesday 25 July 12 11:50 BST (UK)  »
Having found the details of a long lost family member killed in WW2 I recently visited his grave, now I knew nothing of this man - he was my mothers step-brotherl I didn't know she had a step-family! The affect the visit had was astonishing, I got the shakes, I mean I really shook and when I eventually found his grave which was so neat and well tended, I broke down in tears as did my husband. It was a truely moving experience and totally unexpected. All I need to do now is to find out the details of his service record and why he died.  So people if you get the chance to make such a visit be prepared for the unexpected reaction you just might have.

I wonder if anyone out there could point me in the right direction.  I am trying to discover a little about the Marconi company and why a wireless operator would leave London twice to go to Canada/USA.
