Thanks everyone for the help

I will go for the birth certificate.  As for the marriage in India, I have no idea.

I suppose it's possible

Just to add another twist

I was told by a living relative. That the Tate is a relation of sir Henry Tate (of Tate and lyle)

And that they were shunned by the Tate family because somewhere one of them married into a travelling circus.

Don't don't how true that is but this is why I am looking.

Thanks again

Jason

I am trying to find the parents of my wife's grandad..

His name is Charles Murray born 1920 in hunslet in Leeds

He married Annie ratcliffe in Leeds in 1942

I am thinking parish records may help, but I can't find any online

So any help or ideas much appreciated.

Hi all
I have received a will written in norfolk 1834 and proved or not proved in 1838.

This relative seems to have left various messauges , lands and tenements and copy hold for grimston manor.

Then at the end of the will there Is a line I don't understand

This will was ex?????  but not proved. Testatrix (as is alleged) not leaving personnel estate of the value of £5 therefore copied filed and registered only.

Can't read the fourth word looks like extubated but really not sure
So any ideas what this line means, does it mean she didn't have all that stuff, I'd the £5 pound relevant?

Over to the experts

Thanks very much in advance

Northamptonshire / Re: thomas morgan married at st paul,s northampton

Hi everyone

I thought I would take an opportunity to update everyone one about what I have found regarding this topic....

My biggest breakthrough was when I found a newspaper clipping on FindMyPast about Thomas and Kate Morgan.
It states that Thomas attempted to kill Kate in 1901 , with this information it's clear to say that they had split up,

Also found more clipping of Kate getting in trouble with the law for theft from a person..

It's my understanding that Kate was the bad one not Thomas..

After getting Minnie Morgans birth certificate. No father was recorded. So now I know that my grandmother was illegitimate, which came as a complete shock to her only surviving daughter.

I know it's been a while but thanks again to all who helped

Kirkcudbrightshire / Re: McDill and Dill

Don't know if I can help......
My mothers maiden name is dill and as I have been doing research I have found that her ancestors were originally Mcdill from Wigtownshire, Scotland.

Looking at all the census information they stay Mcdill until john mcdill moves to Sheffield around 1871
