Ostler - you are very kind! Thank you so much for your offer.

Being 'down under' I am not sure where North Hall Cem is in relation to Abdour. I know 'my' earlier PHILP and someof the KELLY family were buried in Abdour.

Can I take you up on your generous offer if I happen across any in your area?

Warm regards and enjoy the Spring!

Always trying to track down some more of my CARTER family. They were born, married and, in most cases, dies in Woodhurst, Huntingdonshire.
William married Ann abt 1820 ish
John, William, Ann, Mary, Thomas, Ellis and Sarah.
Young William had a stint in the county goal in Gt Stukeley for reason unknown at the time of the 1851 census! He then married Lydia from Oldhurst and had Ann Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Sarah, Ellis and Jane.
Ellis married Emma LEWIS and had Mabel E, Edward W and Elizabeth.
John married Mary CLARKE.

I would love to hear from anyone with a CARTER in Woodhurst!

Hi JAP,

Sorry I have been a bit slack. Back from UK & Paris just 3 weeks ago and the work has gone nuts!
I had been hoping to get to the said cemetary and take photos but I will have to do that another time! I do have pics of graves here in Qld if you are interested.
I guess you are related to the 'colonists" lol! I have a lot of information on this family here in Australia. If you are interested, I am more than happy to share!
Many thanks for all the info you so kindly passed onto me. I really do appreciate it - I am just a bit slack! My family history searching goes in fits and farts! Sometimes it is all, sometimes it is zip!
The PHILP/KELLY family were quite noteable here in the Brisbane area. The family married into the UHLMANN family (my hubby) and into the PAVEY family- bakers and grocers. All very prolific breeders, I might add, at the risk of offending someone! Huge family limbs here!
LMK if I can help with any of the Ozzie stuff.
Warm regards and many thanks once again.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me out here!
Scotland was just brilliant. Unfortunately not any time for research - blast! :'(  Hard to do with an 11 year old in tow.
I have a few children for Janet and Thomas, 7 in all - Alexander, William, Thomas, Elizabeth, John, Janet and Christina.
I am interested in find out what became of those left behind when the four eldest came to Australia with their father, leaving Mum and the other 3 back in Edinburgh! This is the next facinating phase of my research!

Many thanks once again.

I have a couple of rellies who died between 1871 & 1891 and 1891 and 1901.
They were resideing in Woodhurst. Any ideas on where I might be able to locate some graves?
Names are CARTER, John & Mary.

I would like to be able to photograph the area when I am in the UK (3 weeks time)

Many thanks, in advance.

Thanks ADP,

All I have is Ratho. It is usually written as "Ratho, Edinburgh, Scotland". So up until now, I thought it was actually part of Edinburgh!! (said in a whisper behind a hand!)

I found whoever gave me the info also did the same with Fife. It was written down as "Fife, Inverkeithing, Scotland". Very confusing for some of us 'colonists'! Probably confusing for some of the Scots as well!  ;)

I have found a bit more info on the Kelly, Clarkson, Philp families after following the leads previous!

Thank you both for the wealth of information!

I really needed to know exactly where Ratho was as I have been given the village accompanied by a string of other names after it at times. Very confusing!
I enjoyed the Scottish site no end Falkyn and am staying up in Inverness for a couple of days in October. I now have even MORE things to see and places to explore!

Once again, many thanks. Very much appreciated!
