Fife / Christie - Burntisland

Hi,

I was wondering if there are any Christie's that descend from the James Christie (Joiner b. 1821 & d. 1903) married to Eliza Jack (b. 1835? & d. 1922) still living in or around Burntisland?

Thanks very much, Kerrie

Thanks jac2 & ev.  I had a thought and I am wondering if Eliza may have been adopted.  Maybe something happened to her parents.  I am going to look into Margaret's parents and siblings and maybe that may solve the mystery.

Jac2 - that Margaret that you gave me the info for is actually the first child of Margaret & William Anderson.  Thank you very much.

Kerrie

Most likely but I would think there should still be a birth certificate.  I know she was buried in Burntisland so maybe I will get in touch with the cemetary there and see if there might be any information on her gravemarker.

Hi Carol,

Thank you for your help.  I did know who Margaret's parents were but did not have or birthdate so that helps.  I am looking at the page of her marriage to William Anderson and it indicates that her name is NOT Jack but Wishart which leads me to believe that maybe she and William Jack were not married.  There was a comment by some family members who think he may have been a sailor but It was so long ago, who knows.  I tried to find a record of Eliza's birth by searching all of Scotland under Eliza, Elizabeth etc and got nothing that fit.  I am not sure where to go from here.  If I could find her Eliza's birth certificate, it may indicate if her parents were married.  If the child is illegitimate, it was right on the entry.

I do appreciate your help....Kerrie

Hello,

I am new to this forum and have come up against a wall when trying to find information regarding my Great Great Great Grandmother Eliza Jack.  She married my 3 x Grandfather in 1859.  On the marriage certificate it gives her father as William Jack (deceased) and her mother as Margaret Wishart.  Margaret married William Anderson in 1838 and on the 1841 census it lists Eliza Jack as being a daughter of the house (she was erroneouly named Margaret).  Eliza passed away in 1922.  On various census forms it gives her birthplace as Abbotshall.

I am specifically looking for birth information for Eliza as well as any marriage information for her parents.  I have checked Scotlands people extensively and cannot find anything.  Any help is gratefully appreicated......Kerrie
