Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Marriage Look up request Boughton Aluph and Wye
« on: Saturday 13 May 06 20:10 BST (UK)  »
::)I have a severe brickwall in front of me which I canīt seem to get over.
Does anyone have access to the Kent marriages records for the Parishes of Boughton Aluph and Wye and if so would they be prepared to look up any marriages in those two parishes that include the name WILLS say between 1800 and 1825. Both Names would be very much appreciated
Such information I suspect may help me understand why I cannot get any further.
Thanks in anticipation
Eltel.
I live in Spain so I cannot progress this personnaly at the moment.

I donīt know if this fits with your Gunns at all, but the connection is the Woolwich area of Kent.
My Great Grandmothes Elenoror(Ellen) Sophie Wills married for a second time after my Great Grandfathers death. She married a Thomas Howard Gunn at Holy Trinity Church New Charlton,on the 28th July 1901.
He was a widower aged 41 with 2 Children Florence Isabella and Walter. They had previously been living in Plumstead.
Any Help?

Kent Lookup Requests / Army Reserve List 1803 WILLS
« on: Thursday 15 December 05 21:48 GMT (UK)  »
::) Amy K is offering the availabilty of the above look up and I wonder if she might conduct a search on my behalf.
My G/G/G Grandfather  John Wills was I understand a soldier and it appears that he may have been called away around 1815 to the Napoleonic wars and as a result may have been kileed.
He was from the Ashford area and I wonder if there is any record of him in the army reserve lists for kent 1803
Appreciate any help in this direction

Kent Lookup Requests / Re: Parish Look up Boughton Aluph
« on: Sunday 10 July 05 21:32 BST (UK)  »
Mike,
I have just walked in and opened up my computer and picked up your response. You may not appreciate the delight I felt that someone had taken the trouble to try and help me so thanks very much.
The 1841 census was a bit of a long shot in that my family must have been around that area in that year but whether they were still together in the virtual hamlet of Boughton Aluph was another question.
The person you have found for me John Wills was my Great Great Grandfathers brother and in fact John stayed and died in Boughton Aluph aged 82. The others remained in the ashfoed area in Wye, Kennington etc and all the family worked on the lans as agricultural labourers. What I am tryying to prove at the moment is that name of the father and the mother of John, Edward and my GGGrandfather Richard. I believe that the father was called Micheal and hence the request for some Parish look ups relatin to Births/christenings.
I am pretty green as far as this research is concerned and would welcome any advice as to how to progress my interest further. I would be quite happy to buy my own look up data base but not sure which might assist me the most. You obviously have some knowledge about the procedures and I would welcome the opportunity of listening to your best advice. Dos I give you my E-mail address on the open forum or is there a procedure that protects my privacy?
Look forward to your response and thanke again for your help so fay

 ???
My Great Great Grandfather Richard Wills and at least two of his brothers John and Edward were born in Boughton Aluph in the district of Ashford between about 1810 and 1820. There may be other brothers or sisters. I am trying desperately to establish their Mother and fathers names and wondered if anyone has access to the Parish look up for Boughton Aluph and would be willing to helpme. A search of the 1841 census for these individuals in the same area would also be appreciated
Thanks

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: marriage lookup William R Terry

Hello Flopster,
Just read your posting and although I cannot help directly, I am in possession of a little snippet of information that yo may find useful at sometime.
My Great Great Grandfather Richard Wills married a Sarah Punyer at the Parish Church in Wye Kent on the16th May 1846. One of the witnesses to the marriage was a W, Boyd Terry and he signed his name rather than a mark. Hope this creates some lateral thinking about your ancestors.

Kent Lookup Requests / Parish Look up Boughton Aluph
« on: Monday 04 July 05 22:20 BST (UK)  »
When I last posted a month or so ago I recieved such good advice and help that I was able to progress my family tree by two generations. Now however I am stuck again and would appreciate any further help anyone can give.
It seems that my family WILLS hail from the ashford area of kent. I have certificates that indicate my Great Great Grandfather Richard Wills was married in 1846 and that his birth was probably about 1820 in Boughton Aluph East Ashford. Richards father was named Michael Wills. I think I have searched all the usual places but it seems I am now back to Parish records to find details on these two individuals.
When Richard got married in 1846 it seems his father was alive but when Richard married again in 1868 it says father Michael deceased yet I cannot find and registry entry for Michaels death.
Perhaps the 1841 or 1851 census may show something about Michael.
Can anyone advise how I should go about solving these teasers or even provide information to get me started again. I live in Spain so I cannot visit parish records very easily.
Grateful for any response or advice

 HI carol,
Thanks for taking the trouble to respond it is appreciated.
There is a lttle bit of a story behind my cry for help as I have looked in all the usual places trying to actully locate Henry WILLS place and date of birth.
Henry is my Great Grandfather and this is what I have.
He married at Woolwich Registry office on the 5th November 1884 at the ripe old oge of 38.
On the certificate he is listed as a Bachelor and his father was stated as Richard(deceased)
The next record I have is he had 2 sons both in Greenwich and on the certificates Henry is stated as a labourer at the Royal Arsenal Woolwich.
Then I have a copy of a census for 1891 when he was living at Charlton aged 44 and it stated that he was born at WAY, Kent.
He died in 1897 Aged 50.
From all of this I dedued that he was born in Way in 1846/47.
I have a whole list of Henryīs on the GRO look up that may have fitted the date but not the place. I have sent for and received certificates from all over the Country but not one of them has a father called Richard.
So, hence back to Way or the Thanet area hoping that Richard and his son Henry might just appear on a local census from which I could at least pick up his mothers name and begin to persue back and beyond Richard. At the moment I have hit a brick wall but know the answer is out there somewhere.
One other piece of info is that the family believe that Henry was inthe army which might account for the fact that he did not marry until 38 years old. At the time of the marriage he was stated as living at "The Camps Charlton" which I understand was the Royal Artillary camp.
Do hope you can help as I live in Spain and have to rely on the computer instead of doing the proper leg work.
Regards
Eltel
