Sussex / Sussex Marriage Lookup please
« on: Wednesday 26 October 05 10:13 BST (UK)  »
Would it be possible to find out if there is a marriage on the Sussex Index between Ann Miller, possibly of Hailsham and ? Osborn?

This would  be after 1810 (when she she would be about 15).  Ann is definitely born Hailsham but of course need not be married there.

Thank you very much for your time.

Thanks very much Chris, that's great, I hope you can find them on the 1841.

Good to have the local knowledge of the Phoenix Iron Works also, because all the family seem to continue with similar occupations through several generations, including something called whitesmith? is this working with white metals?

Thank you for your time.

Sussex Lookup Requests / 1841 Lewes census look up request please
« on: Sunday 23 October 05 14:30 BST (UK)  »
Would like to find out names and how many children there were on the 1841 Lewes census for the following couple:

John Miller married to Ann (Ellis) living in Lewes, both will be around 40 yrs old.  Occupation not known, could be iron foundry or smithing?

I already know about John Edward  born 1826, David born 1831 and Isaiah born 1836 but I think there must be others....

Thank you very much for your time.

Suffolk Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Look up request for Woolpit 1841 census

OK Kris here's what I have got

Susannah Gibbons is the aforementioned Susannah Burt, oldest child of Robert and Mary Ann and my great great grandmother, making Robert and Mary Ann my great great great grandparents.

You might find there are a whole lot more Burts buried in Woolpit.

Susannah GIBBONS 21 Mar 1873 37 Ipswich Cemetery
Robert BURT 27 May 1855 44 Ipswich St Nicholas Anglican
Robert BURT 6 Apr 1846 60 Woolpit St Mary Anglican
Robert Charles BURT 16 Jun 1890 2 Ipswich Cemetery
Mary BURT May 1851 inf Snape St John the Baptist Anglican
Mary BURT 28 Jun 1876 70 Snape St John the Baptist Anglican
Mary BURT 16 May 1848 38 Norton St Andrew Anglican
Mary BURT 23 Dec 1839 77 Cratfield St Mary Anglican
Mary Ann BURT 12 Jul 1844 24 Woolpit St Mary Anglican
Mary Ann BURT 2 Dec 1882 68   Ipswich Cemetery

I think I had always assumed Mary Ann Burt, aged 24 to be Roberts wife who died, but maybe she is too young....?
