Derbyshire / Re: Kerrys from Smalley
« on: Saturday 24 March 12 16:15 GMT (UK) »I have come across a mini tree compiled by the Rev Charles Kerry c1833, which contains some of my Kerry family from Smalley Derbyshire, at the top of this tree it says,
There is a tradition in the family that the first of the Kerrys of Smalley was an "Officer from Wales"
Would anyone have any idea what this refers to please?
I have seen the Smalley site.
Sylvia
For all of those interested in the Kerry family of Smalley and who may have come across the notes referring to Thomas Kerry 1580-1655 as 'Officer of Wales'. This refers to the fact that he was the High Sherrif of Montgomeryshire in Wales in 1618 at the age of 38 hope this helps.
