Lanarkshire / Re: Buried Glasgow Necropolis
« on: Tuesday 08 June 10 22:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Glasgow & West of Scotland Family History society offer a photo service where they will go take a photograph of a stone. church, school, house etc for £5 if the building or stone is still there and email you the results. See photo service at: www.gwsfhs.org.uk. They will not do a search of all the cemeteries in Glasgow as there are too many so they need a location.

Hi Kieran,
I checked up on St Peters / Dalbeth today and found no burial there for up to 7 days after the date of death. I then checked the Eastern Necropolis next to Celtic park Parkhead and nothing there either. The Mitchell don't have any records for Riddrie and they are held by Glasgow City council. They will tell you where the burial is but they charge a heafty £61 to do a lookup even though they will have it all on Computer. There may have been a family burial lair in another part the city. On my next visit to the Mitchell in a weeks time, I will check on on a few other cemeteries.

Millburn Renton, Alexandria and Bonhill churchyards have all had the gravestones photographed and transcribed and are available on CD from Glasgow & West of Scotland Family History Society. Check out the publications page at: www.gwsfhs.org.uk

Hi,
ALl the Mitchell Library hold are burial details on microfilm. I would need to find the death using the date you supplied and it should tell me the lair number, section it is in, owner, cost and address of where they died. Nothing else.
They hold microfilms for most of the cemeteries in Glasgow but the only cover up to 1956 for St Peters

Hi Kieron.
The church archdiocese holds the records for St Peters.
http://www.rcag.org.uk/history_intro.htm

I will have a look in the Mitchell Library first as they have microfilms of burials.
Give me a few days and I will get back to you.

Hi, If your ancestor was Catholic, he may be buried in St Peters cemetery also known as Dalbeth. He may also be buried in Riddrie cemetery. These are the nearest to Dennistoun. Unless there was a family lair in another part of the city.

I am looking for the burial place of Norman McFarlane who died 8 Dec 1866 Avoch and his wife Isabela McLeod who died 10 June 1891 Bay Cottage Avoch.
They were married 15 June 1833 Avoch. children George, Ann, Isabella all born Avoch. Would they be in Rosemarkie?

I forgot to say, Ann Boyce parents were Denis Boyce and Mary Coyle. Ann Boyce would have been born about 1816.
There were no parents names given on the death certificate of Dominick McGrody,
