Hertfordshire / Re: Museum Store Berkhamsted

It is a place you can visit, but you need to make an appointment.  Contact Isobel (her email/phone number should be on the website) and if she has enough time she will pull out items specific to your interests.  I didn't end up making it there myself (I was unfortunately with 3 others who didn't want to go) but she will also make up PDF files to send to you, which I intend to do.
We did wander through Berkamsted and it is a great little town.

They have updated their website recently with videos showing what it is like.  Isobel, who I have been communicating with, is very helpful if you are planning a visit and looking for items pertaining to a particular site or event and will also send you pdf files (for a fee), on particular topics.

It would certainly be an interesting family story!  I cannot help at the moment, but wonder if you checked to see if Charlotte moved in with her grandparents as was often the case when the mother died?

Hertfordshire / Museum Store Berkhamsted

Can anyone tell me anything about the Dacorum Heritage Trust/Museum Store in Berkhamsted?  The website says visits are by appointment but does not really indicate what there is to see.

ETA:

Ofcourse as soon as you post a thread like this, you discover what you are looking for.  ::)
I just found a Youtube video which gave me the information I was seeking.

Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Baptism - Ozias LEE - Gt Gaddesden

Wondering if you ever found a baptism record for Ozias?  It has just come to light in my research that his son, Frederick, probably attended the Baptist chapel in Frithsden.  I just learned that Baptists did not believe in infant baptism.

Just an update incase anyone was wondering.  Nettleden (St. Lawrence) church has no record of him.  My mother did some digging and through an old travel diary and pictures we now think they may have attended the Baptist church in Frithsden, which is now gone.  My mother and I had both thought my grandmother was raised Anglican.

Thank you so much for looking!  Yes, I contacted Heath Lane and found the same thing.  Also I have contacted the minister at St. Lawrence church and he says he will show us the book when we are there.

Thanks, Marg.  I discovered I was on the county website (hertsdirect.org) rather than the GRO website.

It looks like either way I can only obtain a copy of the certificate by mail, is that correct?  I would have thought these days an e-mail option would be available.
