Cumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Campbell Whitehaven? Death 1861 - 1871

Wow Kate..thanks for the breakthrough.............. I already had the marriage cert of Hartley Howorth and Isabella, and always suspected there was a link but couldn't find it.  Hartley has given his father as Benjamin Howarth ?! So what do you know about Hartleys father (the soldier). How come Hartley became Thomas Campbell. Could Benjamin be his adopted father ? Which of Hartleys children are you descended from? Have you got a date of death?  So looking forward to hearing all you know. My email is * if you want to contact me direct.  best wishes Dee

Sorry I don't have Thomas or Mary in 1871. I can only assume they both died during the decade unless of course they are hiding under a misspelling or mistranscription...always a possibility.

Mary Campbell death DQ 1862 Whitehaven age unknown may be the one or:
Mary Campbell death MQ 1864 Whitehaven age unknown, could be a candidate or:
Mary Campbell death JQ 1866 Cockermouth (?)aged 32 fits as Mary was born 1834

Not sure where Cockermouth is in relation to Whitehaven or West Broughton.

No Hanes - I didn't know about Sarah Ann. Thanks for that...

Meanwhile, on looking back in my old file I now see that I previously sent for the death cert of Thomas Campbell DQ 1861.
NOT the one. This Thomas was aged 43, (around the right age), but a coal miner who died from Ascitis.
He lived 11 Catherine St Whitehaven. Mary Douglas was informant.
(If anyone out there owns him I'll gladly send the cert to them)

I have never been able to locate Thomas Campbell's first marriage to (Isa)Bella Bailey around 1845. I seriously think that they were never actually married !  He's been a real puzzler to me.
I live in hope that something turns up eventually.

thanks again for your time..

Thanx KGarrad

Shame that age at death didn't get recorded on FREEBMD till 1866 or so.

I will have to bite the bullet and send for the cert to be sure...

I also suspect that the Thomas Campbell who died DQ 1866 Whitehaven aged 4 may have been his son.

I suppose Thomas snr could have died Dec Q 1861 before Mary gave birth say in about mid 1862, and/or  even before Mary knew she was pregnant.

Thanks for your time and input..

Cumberland Lookup Requests / Campbell Whitehaven? Death 1861 - 1871

Hi

I'm trying to locate a death for Thomas Campbell - watchmaker. His DOB varies on each census record. 1813/1818/1821.

Cannot locate him after 1861. In 1861 living New St Broughton

Age at death would be a great help.

(He has a son Jordan Campbell who died 1867 aged 9 at Whitehaven.)

Can anyone help ?
