I think my Gran may have some photos. But they may only go back to Arthur Mills (William RG's son) generation. Not sure we'll have anything further back. Would probably not know if we did anyway as we've got no one to ask.

BTW - My grandfather's name was Leonard William Mills, not Leonard Arthur.

You should knock on the Fire Station door. That sounds fascinating. They may have some records.

Arthur Leonard Mills, William RG's son was a railway worker and his name is on a plaque in the bay listing the railway workers who served in WW1.

Interesting - Yes, I see William R G Mills (my great great grandfather - I think) was your Stephen's brother. Although I didn't know William was an Errand Boy in his early days. He ended up as a Commercial Agent living on Major Road in Cardiff.

How interesting! We had the Shebbear, Devon connection too, although we had him born a little earlier (1834ish) and his wife down as Elizabeth (Betsy???) and his mother as Rebecca (although that could also be Betsy I suppose - we don't know much about her at all, so Rebecca could even be wrong).

I'm sure we are talking about the same George - certainly the Arthur Leonard name similarities would be an odd coincidence. I'll go back and verify the information I had with my Mother, who did most of the up front research.

Unfortunately, my Grandfather (Leonard Arthur Mills) died before I was born. However, longevity is clearly in the family as his sisters (Gwen and Eileen) lived well into their 90s and his brother is still alive apparently, but we aren't in contact with him (they were close as boys, but had a falling out in later years apparently - he now lives in Dubai I think).

Leonard died from a heart condition that he picked up at sea during WW2. So there aren't really any more living relatives that we can go to. Leonard's wife (my Gran) is still alive, but we've already milked her of her Mills family knowledge. :)

Great to meet you too - Always good to meet a new family member! :)

So what's your connection? Who of George's children are you related to?

According to our records (my mother did most of the research). George was the son of William Mills (a shoemaker born circa 1801 and his wife, Rebecca). He in turn was the son of another William Mills (born circa 1776 and married to Ann).

Yes, Arthur and Leonard do seem popular. My middle name is Leonard after my Grandfather. Hated it as a child, but quite proud of it now.

Would love to know more about your side of the family.

Hello - I believe I am the Great Great Great Grandson of the George Mills you are looking for. My string of the family stayed in Cardiff and are still there today, although the Mills name has sadly disappeared from our string because Leonard Arthur Mills (my Grandfather and George's Great Grandson) had four daughters, all of whom married.

According to our records, George and Elizabeth had a son called William R.G. Mills (circa 1860), who had a son - Arthur Leonard Mills (circa 1890) , who had a son - Leonard Arthur Mills, who had a daughter - Linda Joyce Mills (1952), my Mum. :)
