Hi,

I am a member of the Manning Wallamba Family History Society based in Taree. We work out of the MidCoast Library in Taree & on the wall in our section there is a large map drawn up by George Ochs, a local surveyor in about 1872. It shows names of property owners on the map. If you son is able to go to the library he may find the location of the property on that map. We have volunteers at the library Monday to Saturday from 10am to 12 noon. Our researchers may have more information. Check out the Society's website about research.

Thanks for your reply.  Your great grandmother Clara & my great grandfather George were brother & sister.  Before I started this journey our family did not know much about the Wilson side at all.  I now know that George had 2 sisters & 2 brothers.  My Aunty & my Father's cousin actually gave me the task of looking into the family history & it has been interesting so far.

I knew that Clara did not stay with Joseph & found a newspaper artice from 1900 in the Kalgoorlie Miner that showed she obtained a separation from Joseph Danks on the grounds of bodily fear & cruelty.  From what I can gather Joseph went back to the Newcastle area in NSW.

I have found some info on Clara's brothers & their families & little bit about Clara.  I have found marriages for Ada & Annis, but nothing about your grandmother Clara so anything about her would be greatly appreciated.  I did not know about Maggie.  Any more info you can give me about her would be good too.
Yes, I would be interested to hear about John McGowan too.Any info you have about Clara's parents James & Sarah would be very helpful too.  I also have very little on Clara's sister Amelia apart from her marriage to Leonard Smith in 1915 at Merewether, NSW.  I have looked into the Gledhill side of things & have managed to get back to late 1600s but can only get back to 1800s for the Wilsons. 

Do you have any photos from the Wilsons, etc?  If you want any info on the brothers let me know & I will pass on what I have.

Still a blank with Thomas Alexander Fletcher.  The family has a photo of the monument for William Morris Bresslin Fletcher, but all anyone seems to know that it is in Scotland.  We don't know who erected it & how the family come by the photo.

I have checked the details from William's marriage certificate, but neither William's or Sarah's parents are listed.  It is the same for the deaths.

I think I may have tracked down when William arrived in Tasmania  as there is a William Fletcher who arrived from London aboard the 'Sydney' on 28 Jan 1842 who was aged 20 years.  As William was supposed to be born 1822 this would seem to be him. 

I have been told that the information passed down through the family is that Thomas was at a protestant church - Presbyterian??  Looking at St Andrews Church (Church of Scotland) it is not far from the Catholic Church.  I'd venture to guess at this stage that Thomas was not the senior minister & is therefore not listed along with all the senior ministers. He may well have lived in South Tay st & this is just a coincidence that it is the same street as the Catholic church.

Thomas must have had other children as the death notices for William give him to be the youngest son of Thomas.  William, his son William & his grandson Stanley all have Bresslin in their names & so you may think that this may come from Thomas' wife's side of the family.  As yet I can't find anything to confirm this or to find the name of Thomas' wife.

So therre is still a way to go with this part of the family.
