Hi, I am an Ashwin descendant and really keen to know more about them.  My great grandfather was Manley John Ashwin, son of Emma Priscilla and Martin Richard.  Eighteen children is hard to imagine.  I am going to go to Little Akaloa at the end of March and would like to know any details anyone has on their life there before they shifted to Hautapu.  I am also going to see if there are any gravestones for the two (I think) children who died there.  There may be some records in the local church about baptisms too.  Did they leave because their house burned down?  There is an article in the Akaroa newspaper Jan 6th 1882 mentioning a Mr Ashwin and a fire having destroyed his house.

I am keen to get a photo of Emma and Richard, is there any chance you can post one online or somehow get it to me.
