Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Knowledge of Scotland Challenge!
« on: Sunday 26 February 12 22:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi folks. G'day to all.

I have some bits and pieces from a will that was deciphered for me.
Know I am challenged with names and places, as I have never been to Scotland. I want to but now just aint the right time...

ANYwhose...

The following is a montage of the part of the will with the town and what I thought the town name was. If anyone can tell me anything further, it'd be splendid.

Machrohan-nish (was across two lines)

Kind Regards,

Apologies for the mistake and misinterpretation of the previous posts.
I will try to do a bit my self, or try a few other methods.
Thanks all for the efforts. Once again, sorry for the bother.

While I am at it, does anyone know of a business or a website that can help me decipher such a document? I am hopeless at it.

Good Day to All!

Wow!
Absolutely Fantastic work. No way known I would have got any of that on  my own, so thank you!

Although I only just realiased only a small portion can be deciphered on this forum. I might have to see what else I can find out elsewhere.

For information, This does help me link a brother that I have found records with a connection to Malcolm elsewhere, so thanks for the work.

Cheers Folks!

Thankyou very much, I have had a look on scotlands people website, have tried many (but probably not all) combinations.

I did find a will of a Malcolm McFarlane that was in the RN, but cannot read it very well. Do you know of anyone/any place that interprets stuff like this?

I also had found those records of the children too, as William was a Greatx3 grandfather up the line who then came to Australia.
Meanwhile I shall have a look at the marriage you found.

Thankyou again.

G'day Folks!

I am after information on a marriage between Malcolm Mcfarlane and Ann Parker.

I am researching my family tree and have managed to get to the Death Certificate of my 4xGreat grandfather (Malcolm, b. 1805 d1875), whose aforementioned mother and father were mentioned.
FYI, the death certificate says he died at Causewayhead, Logie and was married to a Helen Christie, who evetually died in Glasgow. Also that his father's occupation was a seaman in the Royal Navy.

I am really stuck and on the oter side of the world (Australia), with nothing but a great distance and misbehaving technology in the middle.

Kind Regards and Thankyou in advance.
