Berkshire Lookup Requests / Re: Abingdon marriage 1806

I only have the transcripts from the Oxford FHS for Abingdon St.Helens and can confirm
the marriage is exactly recorded as your posting.

possible baptism for Mary Brown 4-11-1783 (d/o George & Ann, Tailor)

For Henry - there are several but the most likely could be bapt. 28-11-1765 (s/o William & Elizabeth, Gardener.

Alan

Thanks Alan, that's brilliant. Was there any information about their marital status, i.e. bachelor, spinster, widower, widow?
I'm investigating the possibility that it was Mary's second marriage.
All the best
Andy

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Abingdon marriage 1806

I saw an interesting marriage in an online tree which might be relevant to my own family research. But I'm always wary of anything I find in an online tree so I wanted to check if the marriage record actually exists and what details it includes.

9th December 1806 Abingdon (not sure which parish, St Nicholas or St Helen?) between Henry Fisher and Mary Brown.

Would any kind soul with access to the Abingdon parish records be able to check that for me? Thanks very much in advance!

Thank you for highlighting this.
I live in Berlin and there are several Stolpersteine in my street.

I find the indexes are useful as they are organised alphabetically.
So, the Tables décennales des mariages 1931—1940 and 1941—1950 would be a good starting place.

For example, for the 1941-1950 index (#113259570), go to page 117 for the commune of Nivelles and the surname P. In the 1941-1950 index, I see nothing for Maria Rachel Anais Philippart (or Legrand).

For the 1931-1940 index (#113259458), go to page 95 for the commune of Nivelles and the surname P. In the 1941-1950 index, I see nothing for Maria Rachel Anais Philippart (or Legrand).

Just to make sure I've included the year 1930. The 1921-1930 index (#113259429), go to page 118. I see nothing in this index for Maria Rachel Anais Philippart (or Legrand).

As she was legitimised by her father, she'll be under his surname

Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: West siblings, High Wycombe

Are you trying to get back further from John and Mary to see where you link to the Wests?

Thanks very much for your reply.

I am curious to go back, yes.
The trouble is: In the 1851 census Mary is a widow and gives her birthplace as Holborn (London) and in the 1841 census John's birthplace is listed as 'No', as in Not Buckinghamshire.
It's possible the couple married in and near High Wycombe before Dinah's birth in 1809. But just as equally, they may have married in London, or even elsewhere.
I'd appreciate anyone's help in searching for a suitable marriage in Buckinghamshire, but I didn't want to waste anyone's time searching for a needle in a haystack.

All the best

Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / West siblings, High Wycombe
« on: Saturday 17 January 26 22:48 GMT (UK)  »
A series of DNA matches have led me to a group of siblings all born in or near High Wycombe between roughly 1809 and 1830. They all moved to London and on their marriage certificates their father is given as John West, occupation a gardener. I'm wondering whether any of them were baptised in High Wycombe.

I have found the following siblings:
Dinah West born around 1809. She married William Welland in Hoxton in 1853. You can find her on the 1841 census in High Wycombe with her father John West, a gardener. On the 1851 census she is in Shoreditch with her mother Mary West a widow aged 64 born in Holborn.
Harriet West born around 1811. She married Thomas Creswell in St Pancras in 1833. In the 1871 census, her sister Rebecca is living with her.
Alexander West born around 1813. He married Elizabeth Cooper in 1844 in the City of London, remarried Jane Wray in Islington in 1867 and remarried Louisa Esther Banfield in the City of London in 1872.
Elizabeth West born around 1815. She married Joseph Swindell in Haggerston in 1839.
Edward West born around 1821. He married Matilda May in Holborn in 1850.
Rebecca West born around 1825. She married Richard Dickie in 1852 in Hackney and remarried William Robinson in Shoreditch in 1859.
Philip West born around 1830. He married Mary Ann Newings in Bloomsbury in 1860. He was also with his father in High Wycombe in the 1841 census.

So I suppose my question is: Were any West children baptised in High Wycombe between 1809 and 1830 or thereabouts.

Sorry for the long-winded post. Thanks for bearing with me. If anyone has access to High Wycombe parish records, I'd be grateful for any assistance.
Thanks again
 :)
