Hi
Thanks for this - the first link is to a Carmarthen site which isn't correct I am afraid. The second is a really interesting picture of Clydach Vale (where Llanelly was/is) and purports to show the tar houses. However, there isn't any other info with it. If there is any more information on these it would be fantastic!
Thanks again
 :)

Thanks for this. Have found her mum on 1871 census, but not Jessy herself. Jessy's marriage certificate leaves father box blank.

Hi,
I'm searching for a reason my great-grandmother Jessy was born in Chorlton rather than Malton, Yorkshire, the family home. I am 99% certain she was illegitimate, so wonder if there was a home for unmarried mums there in the 1860s.
Any help much appreciated.

Thanks John. Yes, I am in Wales. The maps are very interesting, but I can't see enough detail to find cottages - perhaps I am not looking in the right way. I'd love to know if there is any written evidence for the cottages and who built them...
Many thanks again for your help

I am researching the Richards and Howells families who lived in Gwar-y-Caeau in 1881 and would like to know where and when these particular houses were built. I think that they may be in the same area as the current Gwar-y-Caeau (obviously not from that time) in Port Talbot, but am not sure. I'd also love to find a map of the area or drawings/pictures again from the 1880s.
Thanks!
