Have only just joined this site and noticed your thread re- George and Sophia Tomkins.   George and Sophia are my great-grandparents - their daughter Ellen, my grandmother..... I am digging deeper.... :)

During my search on Google I came across your message on this site, and consequently joined......The George and Sophia Tomkins you are researching are my great-grandparents, their daughter Ellen, is my grandmother on my mother's side.    I am digging deeper... :)
